【教师活动】游戏:我是画像师!
(1)将学生分成四人一个小组,分别扮演警察、Joe Brown和两个目击者。小组的两位目击者会得到同一张嫌疑人的照片。要求四位成员先介绍自己的身份,互相问好,然后由警察向目击者询问嫌疑人的外貌,目击者通过短时记忆轮流描述嫌疑人的外貌特征,最后由扮演Joe Brown的同学根据描述进行画像。
(2)各组画像完毕,教师将各组的照片和画像进行对比,画得最像的小组获胜。
在该游戏中,教师需要在课前准备几张人物外貌特征明显的卡通图片。

本单元话题是“外貌”(Physical appearance)。本节课是本单元的第五节课,是一节写作课,需要学生在口头输出的同时,掌握写作方法,实现对已学重点知识的书面输出。

新课导入
教师课前围绕“人的外貌”,准备人物图片,课堂上展示这些图片,让学生根据图片描述人物的外貌特征。通过图片描述及图片问答的形式导入新课。
教师也可以制作人物形象卡片及带有外貌特征描述的卡片,在课堂上玩“对对碰”的卡片游戏。一个学生展示人物形象,另一个学生迅速找出其对应的外貌特征。通过游戏的形式调动学生学习的兴趣,导入新课。
新知探究
Step 1: New words
要求学生课前预习新词,教师可抽出适当的时间进行检测,确保学生掌握本节生词,为新课学习作铺垫。
Step 2: Practice
【教师活动】
(1)让学生自主完成3a的任务,并核对答案。
(2)让学生为3a中的短文拟一个恰当的标题。
(3)引导学生从3a的文章中找出可以用于写作的句型和表达用语。

(1)让学生两人一组根据3b中的问题进行对话,谈论朋友的外貌特征,并做好记录,为写作积累素材。

注意提醒学生在对话时适当使用选择疑问句结构。
(2)给学生一定的时间模仿3a的文章进行写作,要求写作时必须囊括3b所提供的要点,并适当运用刚才找出的句型和表达用语。通过引导学生根据3a的文章梳理写作步骤,利用“过程写作法”完成3b的写作部分。
(3)让学生四人一组交流完成的短文,并两两交换,互相批改。

Step 3: Pre-writing
【教师活动】
(1)引导学生审题,仔细阅读写作的具体题目要求,明确写作目的是“介绍人物外貌特征”。
(2)引导学生对即将进行的写作练习积累素材,以完成句子的形式将重点内容展示出来,让学生了解写作时可能用到的词汇与句型。
(3)对于写作可能用到的连接词与过渡语进行梳理。

【教师活动】帮助学生梳理写作的顺序,为写作作铺垫:

【教师活动】让学生四人一组交流完成的短文,并两两交换,互相批改。

【教师活动】展示一篇参考范文,并对范文进行点评及讲解。让学生对比范文,重新梳理写作内容,并对已经写好的短文进行修改完善。

Step 6: Practice
【教师活动】将全班学生分四组比赛,请小组成员在黑板上写出各类描述人物外貌的词汇(height、size、hair、other features),比比看哪组写得又快又多而且拼写正确。

【教师活动】
(1)通过提问来启发学生回顾和总结描述人物外貌的表达,可从身高、体格、头发、脸型、五官、眼镜、配饰、衣着、给人的整体主观印象、职业等方面进行问与答。如学生能力较强,还可增加一些新的词汇供学生进行对话,如dress、suit、coat、shoulder等。
(2)让学生两人一组进行对话,介绍自己父母的外貌特征,并做好记录,然后请几组学生表演对话。
(3)根据记录情况及本节课所学描写自己父母的外貌,让学生独立完成Self Check的活动2,完成后请几个学生朗读自己的作文,并给予点评。
