fed为feed的过去式，feed此处作及物动词，意为“喂养；饲养”。feed sth. to sb./sth.把某物喂给某人/某物；feed……on/with……用……喂养；feed on……以……为食; feed sth. to sb./sth. 把……喂给……
eg：Don’t forget to feed your pet dog. 别忘了喂你的宠物狗。
She fed milk to the baby.=She fed the baby on/with milk.
她用牛奶喂婴儿。
Pandas feed on bamboo. 熊猫以竹子为食。
I sometimes feed nuts to the monkey. 我有时候把坚果喂给这只猴子。

2. I saw quite a lot. (教材P61 1b听力)
quite a lot意为“相当多”。a lot后面不能直接跟名词，a lot of相当于lots of，其后可接可数名词复数或不可数名词。quite a little 相当多 +不可数名词;quite a few 相当多 +可数名词
eg：I like him quite a lot. 我非常喜欢他。
I have quite a lot of work to do. 我有相当多的工作要做。
I saw quite a lot of cows. 我看到了相当多的奶牛。
I play tennis quite a lot in the summer.夏天我经常打网球。
Quite a few students were late.不少学生迟到了。
quite 程度副词，意为“相当，非常”，可修饰副词、形容词、动词，与表达程度的词连用。
very 程度副词，意为“很，非常”，语气较quite重，可修饰副词、形容词，但不可直接修饰动词。
quite/very与不定冠词连用时位置不同：“a+very+形容词+名词”和“quitea(n)+形容词+名词” 【辨析】quite与very：
eg：Tom was quite a good boy. 汤姆是个好孩子。
=Tom was a very good boy.

anything是不定代词，常用于否定句或疑问句中。作主语时，谓语动词要用单数形式。形容词修饰anything时要后置。
eg：He can’t see anything now. He has gone blind.
他现在什么也看不到。他已经失明了。

【拓展】 something常用于肯定句中。但是，在表示委婉的邀请、请求、建议等希望得到肯定回答的问句中，用something而不用anything。

1. grow作及物动词，意为“种植；栽培”。
eg：We grow flowers and vegetables in our garden.
我们在花园里种植了鲜花和蔬菜。
2. grow可作不及物动词，意为“生长； 发育”。
eg：In spring, everything begins to grow. 春天万物复苏。
How quickly the baby is growing! 这个婴儿长得多么快啊！
3. grow可作连系动词，有“逐渐变得“之意，强调变化过程。
eg：It's growing dark. 天渐渐(变)黑了。
4. grow up意为"长大；成长”。
eg：What do you want to be when you grow up 你长大后想做什么？
