Compared to many island destinations, the Azores aren’t touristy, noisy, or polluted. Instead, travelers can expect to discover untouched nature, beautiful landscapes, and charming villages with rich cultural traditions.Must-See AttractionsThe Azores are an excellent spot for hiking, diving (潜水), fishing, and whale watching. Some of the top outdoor sights to see include the caldera (破火山口) of Lake Furnas, and Pico Island, where you can climb the tallest mountain in Portugal. S o Miguel Island is the biggest and most populous island, and there are lots of historic homes, restaurants, hotels, and shops here.If You Have TimeAlthough S o Miguel is the most popular place to visit and stay, the other islands of the Azores are certainly worth a visit as well. The most southern island of Santa Maria has great beaches. Try to visit the port of Angra on the island of Terceira, which is a World Heritage Site. Head to the most westerly island of Flores to see the pretty coast lined with wildflowers and sheep.TransportationMost travelers will arrive in the Azores by plane through the Ponta Delgada Airport, and although each island has its own airport, flights often take off only once daily. The best way to get around the Azores is by car, and there are some really beautiful drives to experience here. Buses operate around the islands, but service can be limited and not operational on Sundays and holidays. At first, I told myself, “If I just work harder than everyone else, I can still compete.”However, my perseverance (坚持) wasn’t going to be realistic. And because I kept pushing, my mental health started to worsen. I developed an eating disorder and depression (抑郁症).When I hit rock bottom in high school, I started to understand that I couldn’t just keep going down that path of trying to achieve something that wasn’t possible. My older brother got me started on the right path after I hit rock bottom. He encouraged me to try swimming. The freedom of being in the water had a calming effect on me: It gave me a place where I could feel confident again. I was able to move from the dream of playing soccer to sports that I could do, like swimming, track and field, and cross-country. Naturally, that combination led to triathlon (铁人三项运动).In my senior year, I signed up for my first triathlon. By that point, while I still had some eyesight, I was legally blind. My parents biked and ran the course with me the night before, which helped me learn and remember key landmarks. That first race was great. Most importantly, that race opened a new door in sports and in life for me. When I went to Michigan State for college, I started the triathlon team there. That gave me another network of support, and surrounded me with people to train with and work with.None of that would have happened if I had continued to play soccer. B.When one door closes, another opens.C.Never put all your eggs in one basket. D.The only true failure is the failure to try.CSweden is getting close to becoming the first “smoke-free” country in the European Union (EU). The country of 10.5 million people has had the lowest percentage of smokers in the EU for many years.A country officially calls itself “smoke-free”, meaning that less than 5% of its population smokes daily. Only 6.4% of Swedes over the age of 15 were daily smokers in 2019. That was the lowest percentage in the EU, The data from the Public Health Agency of Sweden shows that the smoking rate has continued to fall, reaching 5.6% last year.“We like a healthy way to live. I think that’s the reason.” said Carina Astorsson, who lives in Stockholm. Smoking never interested her, she added, because “I don’t like the smell; I want to take care of my body.” Sweden says its anti-smoking actions improve people’s health in many ways, including a relatively low rate of lung cancer. Ulrika Arehed is secretary-general of the Swedish Cancer Society. She said Sweden was early to limit smoking in public places such as school playgrounds. Later, the country added smoking bans for restaurants and bus stations. The country also increased taxes on cigarettes and changed rules on how they can be sold. However, other forms of tobacco remain popular in Sweden. Snus is a kind of wet tobacco powder placed in the mouth next to the teeth. Snus makers say their products help reduce cigarette smoking. But Swedish health officials say snus is another product that makes people addicted to nicotine, the main drug in tobacco. If snus and similar products are included, the World Health Organization (WHO) notes that more than 20% of adults in Sweden use tobacco. This brings Sweden close to the world average. “Switching from one harmful product to another is not a solution,” a WHO health official said.( )28.Why is Sweden considered to be close to becoming a “smoke-free” country A.A new form of tobacco has been found.B.It has the smallest population in the EU.C.The percentage of smokers is below the EU’s average.D.The lowest percentage of smokers is almost reaching the EU standard.( )29.What can we infer from paragraph 3 A.She didn’t like the smell of tobacco.B.Anti-smoking measures lowered the cancer rate.C.Swedish people like to live in a healthy way.D.The actions to reduce smoking were effective.( )30.What is Swedish health officials’ opinion about snus A.It helps quit smoking. B.It is good for our health.C.It is as harmful as tobacco. D.It doesn’t make people addicted.( )31.What is the WHO official’s attitude towards Sweden’s becoming a “smoke-free” country A.Enthusiastic. B.Doubtful. C.Interested. D.Proud.DAs the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) states, if we are to avoid a world that is too hot to live in, we need to do everything we possibly can, right now, to cut greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere. The fashion industry (时装行业) contributes up to 10% of global emissions—more than international aviation (航空) and shipping combined. It also contributes to biodiversity loss, pollution, landfill issues unsafe work practices and more. It’s not the first time that people have adapted their clothing in response to the demands of a crisis. During the second world war, clothing styles changed in the United Kingdom and Australia. To protect precious resources, shorter skirts, minimal detailing and a focus on practicability became the norm.In our current context, the most helpful thing we can do is to buy fewer new clothes, wear them for longer and restrain our desire.Australians buy a lot of clothes, about 56 items per year on average. That makes Australians the second highest textiles consumers in the world after the USA. The price of clothes has dropped significantly over the past couple of decades, and the number of clothes people have in their closets has grown. The Berlin-based Hot or Cool Institute suggests a wardrobe (衣柜) of 74 garments ( including shoes but excluding undergarments) is typically sufficient for people who live in a two-season climate (in the tropics) and 85 pieces for those who live in a four-season climate, as most Australians do. If we buy 10 to 12 new items a year, we can replace our entire wardrobe in about seven years. If we do care about sustainable (可持续的) development, that means changing those choices that are no longer suited to the climate crisis. Clothes need to reflect a person’s situation as well as their identity to “work” well. This may mean that what we wear changes as we make different buying decisions, just as people did in the second world war. We may start to look different, but that change means our values in action.( )32.What does the author stress in the first paragraph A.The consequences of greenhouse effect.B.The importance of reducing carbon footprint.C.The problems caused by the fashion industry.D.The necessity of developing the fashion industry.( )33.What does the underlined word “restrain” in Paragraph 3 mean A.Satisfy. B.Express. C.Control. D.Abandon.( )34.What does the Berlin-based Hot or Cool Institute’s suggestion focus on A.Limiting the number of our clothes. B.Reducing the production of clothes.C.Increasing the number of our clothes. D.Replacing our wardrobe when necessary.( )35.Which of the following would be the most suitable title for the text A.Shop Sensibly and Dress Properly B.Wear Wisely and Live SustainablyC.How Many Clothes Should We Buy Every Year D.What Should We Wear to Cut Greenhouse Gases第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。Floods can cause major damage to city infrastructure and even deaths. 36 , tragedies caused by floods can be prevented through taking proper measures. I woke up on time, ate breakfast and did some last minute studying for my math test that day. I was confident that I would get a high mark. I left my house, and minutes later, I was sitting with my friends on the school bus. We were busy talking about how we spent our weekend. At one stop, a boy named Ryan got on hurriedly. He tripped (绊倒) over someone’s foot and fell flat onto the floor.Every one of us on the bus looked on and laughed crazily. Ryan picked himself up, dusted his jacket and made his way to an empty seat. He tried to laugh with us, but his face was burning with embarrassment. The rest of the morning flew by. I did well in my math test. It wasn’t long before the lunch bell rang. I met my friends from the cheer leading team in the dining hall. When we finished eating, we headed out to the courtyard to practice a cheer we would do at that night’s football game. After much practice, we finally managed to do the cheer perfectly. We decided to practice it again one last time. Again, just like the rest of my day so far, the cheer was going great. I raised my leg for one last toe touch. I felt my jeans were torn down in the middle of my backside.I froze (僵住了). I had no idea what to do but stand still. Then I heard people burst out laughing and I saw them pointing at my torn jeans. Trying to cover myself with my hands, I tried to laugh too, but I felt tears began to well up in my eyes.注意:1.续写词数应在150左右;2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。Then I saw Ryan running towards me. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________That night, after the cheers at the football game, I found Ryan. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________英语参考答案听力 1-5 CBCAB 6-10 CAABB 11-15ABCAC 16-20 BACCA阅读 21-23 CAD 24-27 ABCB 28-31 DDCB 32-35CCAB 36-40 EAGDC完形 41-45 BAACB 46-50 DACAD 51-55 CDBCA语填 56.have hosted 57.officially 58.running 59.on60.a 61.attractions 62.who 63.to hold64.were used 65.more convenient书面表达第一节Let’s Strive to Be Better OurselvesWe encounter various challenges in our life and improving ourselves is the best way to deal with them. Here are some ways we can adopt to improve ourselves.Firstly, reading never fails to be a good way to broaden our horizons and strengthen our ability to solve problems. Secondly, learning from our friends is another way to better ourselves. What’s more, constant self-reflection plays an important role in helping us spot our shortcomings and correct them in time to make progress. Last but not least, we are supposed to concentrate more on our study and master better learning methods to make up for our weak subjects.Hopefully, we can be better than we have ever been.第二节One possible version:Then I saw Ryan running towards me. Suddenly the scene struck me where he fell flat and I laughed at him crazily. I thought he would join in with those laughing at me. I lowered my head, my face burning with embarrassment. However, Ryan didn’t laugh. Instead, he approached me from behind, quickly took off his jacket and offered it to me, signaling to me to cover my torn jeans. Holding back my tears, I wanted to express my gratitude to him but courage failed me. I left the courtyard in total silence. That night, after the cheers at the football game, I found Ryan. I thanked him for giving me his jacket and returned it to him. Gathering my courage, I sincerely apologized to him for my misconduct on the bus and thanked him for helping me out of an equally embarrassing situation. Ryan with a broad smile, patted me on the shoulder and told me to forget about it, saying he fell like that a lot. I admired his honesty and sense of humor, and realized that he was someone I could be friends with. Honestly, Monday was a great day indeed!听力材料(Text 1)W: Hi Jack.
