The Inuit people used to live in igloos(冰屋)in winter, but today, many of them live in houses in small towns. They used to hunt seals(海豹). 56 Many of them still wear seal-skin clothes today because they are very warm. Remember, the weather is very cold for many months of the year.
Mariano Tagalik. a 65-year-old Inuit, told us a little about her past life. "Our winter igloos were very warm. We cooked inside, so sometimes it got too hot. 57 In the short summers, we lived in seal-skin tents, but I spent as much time as possible playing outside.”
To move over the snow, Inuit people wore special snowshoes on their feet. 58 These machines can travel long distance(距离)in a short time. In the past, it took them days or weeks to travel the same distance.
59 Now, like all North Americans, they go to school for about ten years. Life is not as hard as it used to be, but many of the older Inuits hate modern life and want to go back to the old days.

In our culture, the ability to make one’s own decisions is important. John F. Kennedy’s quote (引语) “Too often we enjoy the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.” shows an unpleasant truth.
Much of what we know and believe has been taught to us by others, and we often accept this information without spending much time thinking it over for ourselves.
In today’s world, we are being presented with information, ideas and beliefs, but many of them are against each other. Psychology (心理学) tells us that if we hear an idea enough times, or if it comes from someone we respect (尊敬), we will probably believe that idea. In these cases, we base our opinions on the opinions of others. If each of us does not think about this information for ourselves and come to our own conclusions (结论), we will become nothing more than parrots (鹦鹉) qu oting the opinions of others.
Examples of spreading fake news without thought can be seen on the Internet. Some people believe whatever they read and then share the story without thinking about the facts. All it takes is one quick click (点击) of the “share” button, and the story travels on its way to influence even more unthinking readers. This can cause serious problems.
If we just stop for a moment to think about what we read and hear, and form our own opinions, we will be more thoughtful, more independent, and more creative people, but few take that time. Yet we need not lose heart over this bad habit. In fact, simply becoming aware (意识到) of it is the first step towards correcting it. Once we become aware that we tend (趋向) to hold opinions and beliefs without thinking them through, we can change that pattern of behavior. Hopefully, we can learn to experience and enjoy the “discomfort of thought” and form our own opinions.

A.To describe how Internet news spreads. B.To explain why people don’t have their own opinions.

In some science fiction movies, evil (邪恶)robots refuse to die, no matter how hard people fight back.
Now science fiction has become science fact. For the first time, scientists have made a robot that can take a beating(挨打) and keep on going. Scientists from Cornell University made the robot, which looks like a spider with four legs.
Until now, even the most advanced(先进的) robot was almost certain to break down when it was damaged(毁坏). That is because its computer inside simply doesn’t know how to make the machine work after its shape has changed.
To deal with this problem, the scientists put eight motors(发动机) and two sensors(传感器) that read how the machine is working. They all give signals to the machine’s software. Using this information, the computer can then figure out the machine’s shape at any moment.
The new technology is a big advance in robot-making, scientists say, and it’s far from scary. It may someday help scientists create better artificial(假的) arms and legs and give new freedom to people who lose them. It might also help scientists understand how people and animals figure out their own sense of place in space.
“It has been difficult to design robots that can work well when the environment changes or when it’s damaged,” says Olaf Sporns of Indiana University in US. “With this work, we are nearer to solving this problem.”
64.What does the new technology allow the robot to do
A.Do homework for human. B.Tell people when it is.
C.They have no computers inside. D.keep working after being damaged
65.How do the sensors in the robot work
A.They can replace the computer when it’s broken.
B.They can find out where the damage comes from.
C.They help the computer learn the robot’s condition.
D.They can send signals to the person who uses the robot.
66.What does the underline word “them” in Paragraph 5 refers to
A.sensors B.robots C.arms and legs D.Scientists
67.What would be best title for the passage
A.The new technology. B.The Robot in the future.
C.The computer in the future. D.Science Fiction Movies.
On January 15, 2009, US Airways flight 1549 crash(坠毁)landed on the Hudson River in New York City. Thanks to pilot skill and pure luck, everyone on the plane survived(幸存). And it’s safe to guess that most of them changed the way they think about their lives as a result.
Although it is an experience that he hopes no one else has to have, passenger Ric Elias, the CEO of a growing company, learned a lot that day. He says that three important lessons came out of that frightening(可怕的)moment. The first is that in a life- or-death situation, “everything changes in a moment.” He realized that it was important to do the things he wanted to do without putting them off.
As the plane went down, the second lesson Elias learned was that it was important to get rid of Negative energy(负能量)from his life. He saw that he had spent too much time on winning arguments and feeling important. Now, he says, “I no longer try to be right; I choose to be happy.”
The final important lesson Elias learned was that although it wasn’t frightening to look death in the eye, it was sad. He realized the only thing he wanted was to see his children grow up. He understood that “the only thing that matters in my life is being a great dad.” He encourages other parents to be the best mothers and fathers they can be, above all else.
AS Elias remembers that cold winter’s day in 2009, he knows “I was given the gift of a miracle(奇迹), of not dying that day. I was given another gift, which was to be able to see into the future and come back and live differently.” If you could look into your own future, what would you change now

A.He used to be a great dad.
B.He has a great fear of death.
C.He’s the pilot of US Airways 1549.

70.What does the writer want to tell us

D.To improve the relationship with our children.

Saving Our Eyesight
As the saying goes, “Eyes are the window to the soul.”However, 70% of us have poor eyesight. What has caused this problem The main reason is the bad habits of using eyes. For example, many of us read in wrong positions such as reading in bed or keeping our eyes too close to the books. Besides, spending too much time on screen and taking less exercise also cause poor eyesight.
Now something must be done to protect our eyes. First, sit straight while reading. Second, don’t forget to rest during the working time. It’s also helpful to relax our eyes by seeing some green trees or doing eye exercises. Last but not least eat some food that is good for our eyes like carrots or fish.
In a word, let’s take care of our eyes so that we can see our bright future.
