【答案】17.A 18.A 19.C 20.C
A good memory is a great help in learning a language. Everybody learns his own language by remembering what he hears when he is a small child and some children, like boys and girls who live abroad with their parents, seem to learn two languages almost as easily as one. At school it isn't easy to learn a foreign language well because the pupils don't have a very good language environment and they have so little time for it. They are busy with other subjects, too.
A man's mind is rather like a camera, but it takes photos not only of what we see but also of what we feel, hear, smell and taste. When we take a real photo with a camera, there is much to do before the photo is finished and ready to show to our friends. In the same way, there is much work to be done before we can keep a picture forever in our mind.
Memory is the diary that we all carry about with us.

During the Gold Rush, merchants needed a faster way to ship their goods to the West, turning every voyage into a race. The current record holder was the Surprise, which had made the New York to San Francisco trip in ninety-six days. Ellen planned to break that record with her ship, the Flying Cloud.
To achieve the goal, Ellen learned to use navigation (航海) instruments and do the complicated math calculations from her captain father. She also studied positioning charts made by Lieutenant Marthew, Ellen’s race against time began on June 2, 1851. It was her responsibility to keep track of the ship’s progress and current position and to plan the best course for it to follow. She chose a course different from the ones ships normally used and the Flying Cloud passed the equator two days less than ever before.
Heading south, when Ellen and the Flying Cloud was about to reach the Cape Horn, powerful wind slammed into the ship, tipping it sideways. Thirty-foot waves crashed over the deck. Ellen knew that the fastest way to get there was through the Strait of Le Maire. But it was risky. The narrow strip of water was only fourteen miles wide with rocky coasts on both sides. It would not be a problem on a clear day. But Flying Cloud was hit with their worst storm yet. Between the blinding snow and the lack of daylight, visibility was cut to almost nothing. Ellen used dead reckoning to plot a course she hoped would take the Flying Cloud toward the entrance to the strait. Finally, when the skies cleared, Ellen was relieved to see that she were right and everyone were safe on board. On July 22, lucky winds pushed the ship through the strait. Finally, at eleven-thirty the morning of August 3l, 185l, Flying Cloud had completed its voyage in eighty-nine days and twenty-one hours, beating Surprise’s record by an entire week.Crowds gathered on the beach to watch Flying Cloud’s arrival. News of the broken record spread quickly, making Ellen an instant celebrity. Her achievements were recognized in newspapers across the country, The success of her voyage required a combination of skill, experience and courage. Luckily, Ellen had them all.
24.What was Ellen’s main job on the Flying Cloud
A.Doing math calculation and making charts.
B.Analyzing the data and predicting the weather.
C.Locating the ship’s position and deciding the course.
D.Following the captain’s instructions and drawing maps.
25.Which of the following words can best describe Ellen
A.Intelligent and generous. B.Brave and straightforward.
C.Adventurous and sensitive. D.Ambitious and committed.
26.Which rhetorical device is used in the underlined sentence in paragraph 3
A.Personification. B.Simile. C.Metaphor. D.Repetition.
27.What was the biggest challenge when Ellen crossed the Strait of Le Maire
A.The powerful waves. B.The rocky coasts.
C.The narrow strip of water. D.The low visibility
根据第二段“It was her responsibility to keep track of the ship’s progress and current position and to plan the best course for it to follow. (她的责任是跟踪船只的进展和当前位置,并规划最佳航线。)”可知,Ellen在Flying Cloud号上的主要工作是定位船只的位置并决定航线。故选C项。
25.推理判断题。根据第三段“Her achievements were recognized in newspapers across the country, The success of her voyage required a combination of skill, experience and courage. Luckily, Ellen had them all.(她的成就在全国的报纸上得到了认可,她的航行成功需要技能、经验和勇气的结合。幸运的是,Ellen都具备了。)”以及前文内容可知,Ellen展现了她的雄心和坚定,她获得了全国的认可,这实现了她的雄心,说明她是有雄心的(ambitious),还选择了不同于常规的航线,并在恶劣天气中坚持自己的决定,这表现了她是committed(坚定的)。故选D项。
26.推理判断题。根据第三段“Thirty-foot waves crashed over the deck."(三十英尺高的波浪冲过甲板。)”这里使用了暗喻的修辞手法,让人联想到海浪和海风之大。故选C项。
27.推理判断题。根据第三段“Between the blinding snow and the lack of daylight, visibility was cut to almost nothing.(由于刺眼的雪和缺乏日光,能见度几乎降到了零。)”
C
Progress means the act of going forward. Making any kind of progress can make us healthy and happy in life. By setting and actively working towards our goals, we can make progress in our life.
To make more progress in life, start looking at problems in a different way. Whatever happens, if we think positively, it can be useful and helpful. We need to know that problems are part of our life. After we solve problems one after another, we can make more progress and become stronger.
Having confidence is helpful for us to make progress. Confidence comes from different places, such as proper education, training or having good relationships. We should also stay with people who believe in our success and actively support us. These people can help push us towards progress.
Slow progress is still worth celebrating. Just as the old saying goes, “It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop.” Progress usually comes a lot more slowly than we expect. Even if progress is slow, try not to be worried. One important thing is that we keep making progress towards our goals, and another is that we clearly remember what our goals are all the time. The actual speed isn’t so important.
The road to progress is not always smooth. Most progress often comes with setbacks along the way. Sometimes, maybe it feels like we’re taking one step forward and three steps back, but it won’t always be like that. Keep going towards our goals and we can much more easily make the progress we want.
Progress doesn’t always happen in a straight line. As long as we keep working, we will achieve higher levels.
28.Paragraph 2 is mainly about ______.
A.the reasons for making more progress B.the advantages of thinking positively
C.how to look at problems D.how to solve problems
29.Who can help push us towards progress
A.The people who get a proper education. B.The people who give us plenty of advice.
C.The people who give us trust and support. D.The people who are confident in themselves.
30.How does the writer like slow progress
A.It often goes smoothly. B.It still means progress.
C.It sometimes stops progress. D.It always gives us a clear mind.
31.What does the underlined word “setbacks” in Paragraph 5 probably mean
A.Prizes. B.Advantages. C.Excuses. D.Difficulties.
根据第二段“To make more progress in life, start looking at problems in a different way. Whatever happens, if we think positively, it can be useful and helpful. We need to know that problems are part of our life. After we solve problems one after another, we can make more progress and become stronger.(为了在生活中取得更大的进步,开始用不同的方式看待问题。无论发生什么,如果我们积极思考,它都是有用的。我们需要知道问题是我们生活的一部分。在我们一个接一个地解决问题之后,我们可以取得更大的进步,变得更强大)”可知,第二段主要是关于如何看待问题。故选C。
29.细节理解题。根据第三段“Having confidence is helpful for us to make progress. Confidence comes from different places, such as proper education, training or having good relationships. We should also stay with people who believe in our success and actively support us. These people can help push us towards progress. (有信心有助于我们取得进步。自信来自不同的地方,比如适当的教育、培训或良好的关系。我们也应该和那些相信我们会成功并积极支持我们的人在一起。这些人可以帮助我们取得进步)”可知,对自己有信心的人能帮助推动我们取得进步。故选D。
30.细节理解题。根据倒数第三段“One important thing is that we keep making progress towards our goals, and another is that we clearly remember what our goals are all the time. The actual speed isn’t so important. (一件重要的事情是我们不断朝着目标前进,另一件重要的事情是我们始终清楚地记得我们的目标是什么。实际的速度并不那么重要)”可知,作者认为慢进度仍然意味着进步。故选B。
31.词句猜测题。根据划线词上文“The road to progress is not always smooth.(进步的道路并不总是平坦的)”以及后文“Sometimes, maybe it feels like we’re taking one step forward and three steps back, but it won’t always be like that.(有时候,也许感觉我们前进了一步,后退了三步,但并不总是这样)”可知,进步的道路并不总是平坦的,有时候我们前进了一步后退了三步,即进步的道路是充满困难的。

This year marks the 20th anniversary of China’s first manned space mission, with Yang Liwei becoming the first Chinese astronaut to go to space. Since then, another 19 astronauts have reached for the stars. The selection of the fourth generation of astronauts began in 2022 and is now in full swing. Experts revealed how tough the training is before astronauts can fly to space.
The human body is not designed for space life. Astronauts are faced with multiple challenges on a space mission. The changes in gravity can have an impact on their bodies. The sensation of confinement(封闭)living in a small spacecraft for months can damage their mental health. Emergencies during missions challenge their knowledge and ability to solve problems under huge pressure. So it’s no wonder that astronauts have to meet extremely high standards and go through a tough training program.
To make sure that Chinese astronauts complete their missions and return to Earth safely, “Eight types, including over 200 subjects of training, were set,” Huang Weifen, chief designer of the astronaut system for China’s manned space project, told CCTV News. Apart from physical fitness training, it also includes basic scientific theories, psychological health, and mock(模拟)missions.
Among the training subjects, the most tiring one is underwater training. This training is designed for astronauts to adapt to the microgravity environment in space. According to Huang, astronauts stay underwater in suits weighing over 100 kilograms for six hours at a time. Water resistance(阻力)and the heavy suit make every move exhausting. “Nie Haisheng, one of the astronauts, once reported a two-kilogram loss in weight after one underwater training exercise,” said Huang. Each astronaut receives training for at least three and a half years before having the chance to go to space.
32.How many generations of Chinese astronauts have been sent to space
A.3 B.4 C.19 D.20
33.Which of following is true according to paragraph 2
A.Human body is perfect for space exploration.
B.The spacecraft has enough space for astronauts to operate.
C.Astronauts ought to complete missions under huge pressure.
D.The isolated condition in space benefits people’s mental health.
34.Why did Huang mention Nie Haisheng’s two-kilogram weight loss
A.To stress how challenging the training is. B.To describe Nie’s personal achievements.
C.To introduce the weight limit for astronauts. D.To explain the importance of proper training.
35.What does this passage mainly about
A.Microgravity environment cause health problems.
B.Astronauts need tough training to meet various challenges.
C.China has completed numerous missions in space exploration.
D.Experts reveals the high standards of selection process of astronauts.
【答案】32.A 33.C 34.A 35.B
根据第一段的“The selection of the fourth generation of astronauts began in 2022 and is now in full swing. (第四代宇航员的选拔工作从2022年开始,目前正在全面展开。)”可知,第四代宇航员选拔开始于2022年并且现在还在进行中,所以到目前为止已经有三代的宇航员进入了太空。故选A。
根据第二段的“Emergencies during missions challenge their knowledge and ability to solve problems under huge pressure. (任务期间的紧急情况挑战了他们在巨大压力下解决问题的知识和能力。)”可知,宇航员应该在巨大的压力下完成太空中的工作。故选C。
34.推理判断题。根据第四段的“Among the training subjects, the most tiring one is underwater training. (在训练科目中,最累人的是水下训练。)”和“Water resistance and the heavy suit make every move exhausting. (水的阻力和厚重的套装让每一步都筋疲力尽。)”可知,水下训练是最消耗体能的,所以下文举聂海胜的例子是为了进一步强调水下训练具有挑战性。故选A。
通读全文,第一段的“Experts revealed how tough the training is before astronauts can fly to space. (专家透露了宇航员在飞向太空之前的训练有多么艰苦。)”引出宇航员的训练艰辛,第二段的“The human body is not designed for space life. Astronauts are faced with multiple challenges on a space mission. The changes in gravity can have an impact on their bodies. The sensation of confinement living in a small spacecraft for months can damage their mental health. Emergencies during missions challenge their knowledge and ability to solve problems under huge pressure. So it’s no wonder that astronauts have to meet extremely high standards and go through a tough training program.(人体不是为太空生活而设计的。宇航员在太空任务中面临着多重挑战。重力的变化会对他们的身体产生影响。在小型宇宙飞船中生活数月的禁闭感会损害他们的精神健康。任务期间的紧急情况挑战了他们在巨大压力下解决问题的知识和能力。因此,宇航员必须达到极高的标准,并经历严格的训练计划也就不足为奇了。)”及后续详细展开宇航员在训练中要面临的困难和挑战。由此可知,B选项“Astronauts need tough training to meet various challenges. (宇航员需要艰苦的训练来应对各种挑战)”能够概括文章主旨。故选B。
第二节 (共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)
根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。
We’ve all been there—you’ve sent a message and it’s marked “read”, but you haven’t heard anything back. What’s the deal While being left on read (已读不回) can be confusing, it’s also pretty common. 36 Here are a few tips.
Expect the best. Remind yourself that the person is probably just busy. Ask yourself if you actually know their schedule. There could be some time commitments you aren’t aware of. Here are a few other reasons for a delayed response. 37 They put their phone away to focus on work or school. They accidentally forgot to reply. Maybe they thought about what they wanted to say but didn’t actually text it.
Resist the temptation (诱惑) to double-text. 38 If you send a lot of follow-up texts, it’ll be hard for them to keep up and they might get stressed. Leave them with just one text to catch up on—the other person will probably appreciate your patience.
Read over your previous messages. See if there are any confusing texts that you need to clarify. It’s okay if you review your message again and notice that it might have been a little unclear—it happens! 39
40 Keep it out of sight and get some peace of mind. Don’t let it upset or confuse you. If you get your mind off any notifications, you’ll be able to brainstorm new ways to spend your time.
A.Put your phone away.
B.Fix your attention closely on text responses.
C.Give them a little space so they have a chance to reply.
D.They want to give you a longer response but can’t right now.
E.Ask yourself why being left on “read” frustrates or confuses you.
F.You can keep the situation from bothering you until you hear back.
G.You might feel relieved when you find something that is easy to misread.
【答案】36.F 37.D 38.C 39.G 40.A
36.根据后文“Here are a few tips.(这里有一些建议)”以及前文“it’s also pretty common.(这种情况很常见)”可知,空处应该是承上启下说明可以应用这些建议避免被影响,所以F项“You can keep the situation from bothering you until you hear back.(你可以避免这种情况困扰你)”符合文意。故选F项。
37.根据上文“Here are a few other reasons for a delayed response.(以下是延迟响应的其他一些原因。)”以及下文“They put their phone away to focus on work or school. They accidentally forgot to reply. Maybe they thought about what they wanted to say but didn’t actually text it. (他们把手机收起来,专注于工作或学习。他们不小心忘了回复。也许他们想到了他们想说什么,但实际上并没有发短信。)”可知,空处是延迟响应的可能原因,与D项“They want to give you a longer response but can’t right now. (他们想给你更长的回复,但现在不能)”上下文一致,符合文意。故选D项。
38.根据前文“Resist the temptation to double- text.(不要信息轰炸对方)”以及后文“If you send a lot of follow- up texts, it’ll be hard for them to keep up and they might get stressed. Leave them with just one text to catch up on—the other person will probably appreciate your patience.(如果你发了很多后续短信,他们很难跟上,他们可能会感到压力。只给他们留一条信息,让他们跟上进度——对方可能会感激你的耐心)”可知,本段讲述不要一直给对方发信息,要给对方一些时间,让他们跟上你的信息,所以C项“Give them a little space so they have a chance to reply.(给他们一点空间,让他们有机会回答)”符合文意。故选C项。
39.根据段首句“Read over your previous messages. (阅读你之前的信息)”,及上文“See if there are any confusing texts that you need to clarify. It’s okay if you review your message again and notice that it might have been a little unclear—it happens! (看看是否有什么令人困惑的文本需要澄清。如果你再次查看你的信息,并注意到它可能有点不清楚,这是没有关系的——这种情况发生了!)可知,再次查看信息可能会发现一些被误读的东西,与G项“You might feel relieved when you find something that is easy to misread.(可能会感到宽慰,当你发现了一些容易被误读的东西)”上下文一致,符合文意。故选G项。
40.根据下句“Keep it out of sight and get some peace of mind.(把它放在你看不到的地方,让你的内心平静下来)”以及后文“Don’t let it upset or confuse you. If you get your mind off any notifications, you’ll be able to brainstorm new ways to spend your time.(不要让它困扰或迷惑你。如果你不去想任何通知,你就能头脑风暴出新的打发时间的方法)”可知,本段主题是把手机放到一边,眼不见,心不烦。与其纠结为什么会被“已读不回”,不如放下手机,做些更有意义的事。所以A项“Put your phone away.(把手机收起来)”起到概括作用,符合文意。故选A项。

根据时间状语“since the Xia and Shang dynasties”可知,句子表示从过去开始一直延续到现在的动作,用现在完成时或者现在完成进行时,主语Flames是复数,与谓语burn是主动关系,故填have been burning或have burnt/(burned。
“key to”表示“……

分析句子结构可知,“began as a practical container”和“ evolved into pieces of art”两部分有顺承关系,并列连词and常用来表示顺承关系,故填and。

In Rome there was once a poor slave whose name was Androclus. His master was a cruel man, and so unkind to him that Androclus ran away. He hid himself in a wild wood for many days; but there was no food to be found, and he grew so weak and sick that he thought he would die. So one day he climbed into a cave and lay down to wait for death, and soon he was fast asleep.
After a while, a great noise woke him up. A lion had come into the cave, and was roaring loudly. Androclus was very afraid, for he felt sure that the beast would kill him. Soon, however, he saw the lion was not angry, but that his foot were hurt.
Then Androclus grew so courageous that he started to examine the lion’s paw to see what was the matter. The lion stood quite still, and rubbed his head against the man’s shoulder. He seemed to say, “I know that you will help me.”
Androclus lifted the paw from the ground, and saw that it was a long, sharp thorn that hurt the lion so much. He took the end of the thorn between his fingers; then he gave a strong, quick pull, and out it came. The lion was full of joy. He jumped about like a dog, and licked the hands and feet of his new friend.
The two became such good friends that Androclus found his new life a very happy one. One day some soldiers found Androclus in the cave and took him back to Rome. It was the law at that time that every slave who ran away from his master should fight a hungry lion. For each of these occasions, a fierce lion was locked up for a while without food, and a time was set for the fight.
Paragraph 1
When the day came, thousands of people crowded in to see the fight.

Paragraph 2
The people, who had expected to see the man killed by the lion, were filled with wonder.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
When the day came, thousands of people crowded in to see the fight. The door opened, and poor Androclus was brought in. He was almost dead with fear and saw that there was no pity in the thousands of faces staring at him. Then the hungry lion rushed in. Oh, it was his old friend, the lion from the cave. People saw Androclus put his arms around the lion’s neck and the lion lay down at his feet, licking them lovingly.
The people, who had expected to see the man killed by the lion, were filled with wonder. Androclus stood up before them and told how he and the beast had lived together in the cave. “I am a man,” he said, “but no man has ever befriended me. This poor lion only has been kind to me; and we love each other as brothers.” The people were not so bad that they could be cruel to the poor slave now. “Live and be free!” they cried, “Give both of them their liberty!” And so Androclus was set free, and the lion was given to him. They lived together in Rome for many years.
