1. congratulations n. [复数]祝贺
(1)congratulation用作名词, 意为“祝贺”, 通常用复数, 是祝贺语。
(2)常用搭配有:
congratulations to sb. 祝贺某人
congratulations on sth. /doing sth. 祝贺某事/做某事
congratulations to sb. on sth. 因某事祝贺某人

2. even though即使; 尽管
even though(=even if)从属连词, 意为“即使, 尽管……”, 引导
让步状语从句。不能与but连用, 但是可以与yet, still连用。
例如: Even if/though I have to sell my house, I’ll keep my
business. 即使我不得不卖掉房子, 我还是要维持我的生意。
3. protect sth. against. 保护……；使……不受
protect用作动词, 意为“保护”, 常用短语:
protect. . . against sth. /doing sth. 相当于protect/stop/prevent
. . . from sth. /doing sth. 意为“(保护)使……免于……”。
例如:
①We wear sunglasses to protect our eyes from the sun.
= We wear sunglasses to prevent the sun from harming our eyes.
我们戴上太阳镜保护眼睛免受阳光的伤害。
②We should stop people from cutting down the trees.
我们应该阻止人们砍伐树木。
