The keys are gone! Not the keys to my house, not the keys to my mom’s house, not the keys to the truck, but the keys to a very fancy house that my mother is looking after while the owners take a tour of England. She was to have responsibility for this place for a month but unfortunately the owners have fallen ill and are coming home early, today in fact.
Yesterday morning, my mom got up and went to her office, and then came to my house to watch the kids for me. She was planning to stay at the fancy house for one last night before she cleared out in the morning. As she was leaving my place she went to grab the keys, but the keys were not in their usual spot in her purse. We emptied the whole purse on my kitchen table. No luck though. We didn’t find the keys.
She went out to her car to look. No luck. I went out to look in her car since she admitted that she couldn’t look everywhere. I carefully searched that car in the dark with my phone as a flashlight. I also got down and looked under the car on the driveway and in the garden too. Still no luck.
By then it was way past my bedtime and since I had two sleeping children I couldn’t continue the search with her. So she went out into the night to check and see if she’d left the keys hanging on the door at the house. A while later, I got a phone call. She said no keys anywhere but the house looked intact (完好无损的) and still locked, so she was going back to her office to check there. That was the last I heard until this morning’s text message.
“Are you up ” “Yes.” “Ask the boys if they took my keys!” So they weren’t at the office. I did ask the boys.

“My mom's name is Lakshmi Rajput and her name is Mrs. Mahalakshmi Iyer. This can't be a coincidence (巧合). If I'm thinking in the right direction, then I know who she is,” Ridhima clarified in a serious tone.
“Do you think ... she is your grandmother ” Vasu asked.
Ridhima suddenly said, “The publisher!!!”
Vasu immediately checked the name of the publisher on her computer and got the address. “What are you going to do now ”
Ridhima said, “Nothing. Let's pack.”
Six hours later, both were at the airport. The next morning, they were in the publisher's office talking to Mr. Rao, the owner.
“We can't share any personal data of our clients. Please leave now,” Mr. Rao said in an angry tone. Vasu then told him everything about the book. Finally, he was convinced and gave Mrs. Iyer's address to the girls.
Later on, standing at Mrs. Iyer's doorstep, Ridhima was a bit nervous. Vasu rang the bell.

By the time I arrived at the counter it was 8:02 and the gate closed at 8:05. The lady asked me what was wrong, and I told her. She then scanned (扫描) my ticket and told me the problem was that the gate had closed. I complained and told her I had arrived earlier.

She didn't say anything else, except to help change my ticket. I didn't panic; instead I went into action mode. I searched for other flights. Just one flight would leave in 35 minutes. I was already at the airport, so I bought the ticket. I then tried to check in: check-in closes 40 minutes before the flight.
I took a deep breath, stopped running around, grabbed a taxi home, and bought my third ticket from Sunday to Sunday, extending my stay.
