Shopping in the USA is a great way to kill time, but shopping centers can often be expensive. Here are some cheap choices.
Thrift stores, where people bring clothes and other items that they no longer want, are very popular in the USA.Since the items in the stores are old, they' are sold at a much lower price. And don't worry about getting someone's old things.
Thrift stores’standards for old things are very stringent. If an item is in poor condition, they won't accept it.
Yard sales are also popular in the USA. Some people love to clear out the things they have collected over the years, such as clothes and books. Maybe their kids have grown up and moved out or maybe they are selling their house. They put things they don't need in their yard and decide on a cheap price for them. Other people stop by to see if they can pick up something for a good price.
Searching online for people who are selling the items you are interested in is a good choice, too. People often sell things online when they're moving from one apartment to another. You'll find a lot of people selling things online in big cities.
Here is some advice for you:
*Go to a thrift store only when you have a lot of time to spend, and be patient. You may have to look through a lot of items before you find the one you want.
*Don't be afraid to bargain (讨价还价)at a yard sale.
*Play it safe when you go to someone's apartment to buy something. Speak to the person on the phone first, and take a friend with you.

91. 参考范文:
Dear David,
I’m sorry to hear that you’re upset about your homework load. I understand your situation. Here is some advice for you.
First, you need to manage your time wisely. You can start your homework early or make full use of your free time. Then, try to find some good learning methods, like breaking tasks down into smaller parts, and completing the difficult ones first. Moreover, good sleep can ensure that you are in a better state to study the next day. So it’s important to set a time period during which you complete your homework carefully, and after that, you go to sleep. If you still have trouble balancing your homework and sleep, don’t be afraid to ask your teachers or parents for help. I do believe they will give you some useful advice.
Remember, it’s great to get everything done in one night, but developing a good habit of doing homework will help you succeed in the long run.
I hope my advice will be helpful to you. Wishing you a successful term!
Yours,
Li Hua
