Module 1 Feelings and impressions
Unit 1 It smells delicious.
1.掌握本单元的词汇和句型。
2.学习look,sound,smell,feel,taste等感官动词的用法。
1.在语境中猜测意思并认读词汇:smell,soft,sour,sound,cookie,pizza,jam,lovely,have a try,sweet tooth。
2.能够辨别不同感官动词和形容词所表述的内容,并能与图片准确匹配。
3.通过学习美国女孩贝蒂和托尼谈论在家里制作西方传统食物的对话,让学生能够准确运用相应的感官动词和形容词描述食物的特征,简单表达自己的主观感受。
4.通过读对话,初步感受西方饮食文化并借助提示简述对话内容。
1.重点:
(1)掌握新单词及重要短语。
(2)理解Activity 3中的对话内容,学会运用系表结构。
2.难点:能够听懂运用感官系动词表达感受的对话,并能准确获取信息。
Step 1 Warming up and leading in
1.Do the chant games of touching the body parts together.Listen and point.Talk about the body parts.
2.Multimedia shows some pictures of people and food.The teacher asks a question:When you see the following pictures,what words do you think of
【设计意图】通过游戏让学生放松身心;通过展示图片并提问,既活跃了课堂气氛,又调动了学生学习的积极性,还使学生对感官动词的用法有了初步的认识。
Step 2 Listening
Before listening
1.Show some pictures of the new words on the screen of the multimedia.The teacher reads the words for the students and the students read after the teacher.
2.Play a game “Golden Eyes”.Use the new words flashing on the screen to see who can say the word the fastest.
3.Ask the students to look at the pictures and read the new words in Activity 1.
【设计意图】通过图片,让学生更直观地理解新单词的含义。通过“火眼金睛”的游戏来激发学生的学习兴趣。
While listening
1.Play the recording twice and let the students listen and number the pictures in Activity 1.
2.Listen again and complete the sentences in Activity 2.
3.Let the students who hear the answers raise their hands and hold the star-winning competition between the groups.
4.Check the answers.
【设计意图】此部分通过图片学习感官系动词,使学生更容易完成对应的听力练习。
Step 3 Listening and reading
1.Play the recording of Activity 3 for the first time.Ask the students to listen.Then answer the question:How many people are there in the conversation

2.Play the recording again.Let the students read the conversation sentences by sentences after the recording.
3.Ask the students to read the conversation carefully by themselves and underline all the points which are difficult or important for them.
4.Invite some students to show the points to the class,and the teacher explains some difficulties to them.
5.Finish Activity 3.Let the students check what food Betty is making.
6.Check the answers.
【设计意图】通过让学生听对话并跟读、模仿,纠正学生的语音语调。让学生带着问题去阅读,提高学生捕捉信息的能力。
Step 4 Practice
1.Let the students read the sentences and the words in the box of Activity 4 and complete the sentences with the words in the box.
2.Ask the students to look at the table in Activity 5.Then complete the table with the words in the boxes in Activities 1 and 4.
3.Ask some students to show their answers.Then check the answers.
【设计意图】通过此环节的训练,让学生练习了目标语言,明白了系动词与身体各个器官之间的联系,更好地理解系动词的用法。
Step 5 Pronunciation and speaking
1.Let the students read the sentences in Activity 6.
2.Play the recording of Activity 6 without stopping.Ask the students to listen carefully and underline the words the speaker stresses.
3.Check the answers.Play the recording again and ask the students to listen and repeat the sentences.
【设计意图】通过此环节的跟读,培养重读意识,让学生掌握并运用语音语调,提高学生的口语交际水平。
Step 6 Pair work
Work in pairs.Let the students ask and answer about the things in the box.Say why they like or do not like them.Finish Activity 7.

2.能用所学的表示感觉和知觉的系动词表达喜好和感受,能用准确的语音语调对自己或他人进行简单的描述。
3.通过写作训练,能运用系表结构和when引导的时间状语从句对自己或别人进行简单地描述,培养学生关爱他人的情感素质。
1.重点:
(1)熟练运用本单元的重点单词与短语。
(2)能够读懂短文大意,完成相应练习。
2.难点:读懂描述人物外貌和性格特征的短文,并借助提示对自己或他人进行简单地描述。
Step 1 Revision
Talk about feelings and impressions with students.
1.Ask the students who wear jeans to come to the front of the class.
T:Now,everyone.Look!What kind of clothes do they all wear
S:Jeans.(The teacher writes “jeans” on the blackboard.)
T:Many people,young or old,wear jeans today.Jeans are so popular.Do you know why
S:Because they look cool!
2.Ask one of the students who come to the front the following questions.
T:Do you like swimming in the sea?Why or why not
S:Yes.I love swimming in the sea because the sea feels great.
T:Silk clothes were first made in China.They are still popular today.Why are silk shirts so popular in China
S:Because they feel soft and look beautiful.
3.The teacher puts on glasses and says:Look at me.I'm wearing glasses.(The teacher writes “glasses” on the blackboard.)
T:What do I look like
S:You look cool.

4.Help them to recall all the sense verbs and write the sentence structure on the blackboard.Let students read and consolidate these words and structures.
【设计意图】通过谈论学生熟悉的话题——流行的牛仔裤和眼镜等,既引导学生复习了上一课所学的知识,又让学生理解了新单词jeans和glasses的含义。
Step 2 Reading
Before reading
1.Introduce some new words and talk about the pictures in Activity 1 to prepare for the reading.
2.Let students learn the new words and expressions by themselves,and then the teacher checks and helps.
3.Ask the students to describe the two girls in the pictures of Activity 1.They can work in pairs and use the words in the box.
4.Students write the description on the blackboard:
Picture A:She is tall.Her hair is short and fair.(She's tall with short fair hair).
She is young.
She is wearing jeans and a pair of glasses.
She is a stranger.
I think she feels nervous…
Picture B:She is short.But she has got long hair.
She looks young and pretty.

While reading
Fast reading
1.Divide the whole class into 8 groups.Ask them quickly find out the answer to Activity 2 from the text.Group representatives quickly write the answers on the blackboard,and give a star to the quickest group.
2.Ask the groups to read the letter and finish Activities 2~3.
3.Check the answers.
【设计意图】本活动要求学生快速把握课文关键信息,提高阅读技巧。
Careful reading
1.Speaking
(1)Ask students to do Activity 4.
Ask students to work in groups of five or six.Each group describes a person in the class,and let other groups guess who she or he is.
(2)Encourage students to talk about their hobbies using the following sentence structures and phrases:I spend a lot of time with… I love…I enjoy…
2.Pair work
(1)Ask students to read the letter and underline the sentences with “when”.Call someone to read the sentences they underlined with “when”.Ask someone to write the sentences down.
(2)Point out “when” means time here,not a question word and then ask them to work in pairs and ask and answer the questions in Activity 5.

After reading
1.Let the students complete the passage in Activity 6.Then ask the students to work in pairs and say about their feelings as instructed in Activity 6.
2.Review and retell the email
(1)Find out the phrases in the email and write them down on a piece of paper.
(2)Find out the useful sentences and structures.
(3)Finish the following mind map.

2.Speaking
(1)Let the students work in groups,talk about the pictures above,and use the verbs to complete sentences in Activity 1.

(2)Group members write down their discussion results.And the teacher sums up the results.
(3)Tell the students to read the examples in Activity 2,and then write more sentences about themselves.Practice it in groups.

Step 3 Practice
1.Tell the students to guess the meanings of “be like” and “look like” according to the table in Activity 3.If necessary,the teacher can help them.
2.Ask each group to choose the proper adjectives.At last,choose the fastest and best group.
3.Work in pairs.Show some pictures of people who the students know well.Then let the students make short dialogues about the pictures with “be like” and “look like” to finish Activity 4.Choose some groups to present the dialogues in front of the class.
4.Ask the students to read through the conversation in Activity 5.Then complete the conversation with the correct form of the words in the box.
5.Check the answers.
