Dear Tony,
Knowing that you're interested in Chinese traditional culture, I'd like to introduce an interesting
festival to you.
The Dragon Boat Festival is celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month. It's one of the
most important festivals in China and there are many traditions. For example, we always eat
Zongzi which is a kind of sticky rice dumplings in order to remember the great poet Qu Yuan.
People in the north of China like sweet Zongzi while people in the south like salty ones. As for me,
the most interesting event is the dragon-boat race. It's an exciting match that stands for teamwork
and thousands of people stand on both sides of the Haihe River, cheering loudly.
In a word, the Dragon Boat Festival is meaningful because it contains rich history and culture.
Therefore, it's necessary that we protect and pass on our traditional culture.
Hope you'll join in next time you come to Tianjin.
