【Teaching aims】
1.Knowledge aims:
1)Master the new words from P 25 to P 28.
2)Master the important sentence patterns as below:
What’s wrong What should I do Maybe you could go to his house.
Although she is wrong, it’s not a big deal.
You should call him so that you can speak to him.
You shouldn’t wait until the last minute to study for the test.
3) Teach and summarize the use of until/ although/so that

1) Learn to talk about problems and give advice.

1. Teach the students to master the key language points in the text.
2. Guide students to use target language to make conversations.

【Teaching design】
Step 1 Warming-up and Lead in
Greetings.
Review model verbs should and could.
Teacher asks: Good morning, Class! How are you today
Students anwers: Fine, thank you.
Teacher: For the last three unit we have learn two important model verbs. Do you know what are they Who can tell me Hands up.
One student :should and could.
Teacher: That’s right. And who knows how to use them
Ask several students to answer.
Teacher: Good ! Now today we are going to learn a new unit and in this unit we will continue to practice using “should” or “could” to give advice. First of all, let’s read the new words of section A.
Step 2 Presentation.
1.Teacher shows the pictures of problems in 1a. Let students to consider these problems and divide them into “serious” or “not serious”.
2. Listen to the tape and circle the problems in 1a. Then teach the language points in this part.
3. Let students wrok in pairs to make a conversation at those problems in 1a.
4. Listen to the tape and complete 2a to 2b.
5. Role-play the converstion in 2d . Then let the students to pick out language points and make sentences with them.
6. Give students 2 minutes to summarize the main idea of the two letters . Work in groups and choose one student to stand for each group to give the summary. The best group can get a small present.
7. Teach the language points in the two letters and finish the test from 3b to 3c.
Step 3 Grammar Focus.
1. Teach the target language of this unit. Students may read the grammar focus first and they try to use the sentences structure to make more sentences.
2. Teach the adverbial clause lead by the words until / although/ so that. The teacher may expand the knowledge by make a summary of the structure as below:

Such +adj+复数名词+that
Such +adj+不可数数名词+that
Step 4 Speaking.
1. Work in pairs. Role-play the conversation between Peter and his friend.
Students may begin like this:
A: What’s the matter
B: I had a fight with my best friend. What should I do
A: Well, you should….
2. Work in groups and ask each other about their problems. Some may from best friends some may come from family members. Make notes and divide those problems into two kinds : at home or at school. Then make a conversation with the notes.
Step 5 Summary
Make a summary of the class and give students several minutes to ask questions.

II. 句型:
1. 肯定句 +“until” + 句子或词组或单词,意思是一直做某事,直到…才停
2. 否定句 +“until” + 句子或词组或单词, 意思是直到…才会做某事。
3. although/though表示“虽然”,两者大致同义,可换用,只是 although 比 though 更为正式:
Though [Although] it was raining,we went there. 虽然下着雨,但我们还是去了那儿。
Though [Although] it was barely four o’clock, the lights were already on.
尽管才四点钟,灯已经亮了。
4. although 一般不用作副词,而 though 可用作副词,且一般放在句末(不放在句首),意为“可是”、“不过”。
Step 4 Emotional Experience

1.Knowledge aims:
1)Recite the following words: member, pressure, compete, opinion, skill, typical, football, cut out, quick, continue, compare, compare with, crazy, push, development, cause, usual, in one’s opinion, perhaps.
2)Master the important sentence patterns as below:

2. Ability aims:
1) Be able to master the target language of section B talking about students’ school pressure and after class problems.

Step 3 Presentation.
1.Teacher: Look at picture. You may use these ways to relax. Discuss with your partner about your stress and how to lower relax.
2. The teacher teaches the usages of the new words.
3. Students fill the blanks in 2a . Read the question in 2b on Page 30. Then let students work in groups to find the answer from the text.
4. Then follow the tape and read the text.
5. Guide students to summarize the main idea of the text. Then ask students: “What do you think of after-school class Why children have such a great pressure today. What should parents do to help lower children’s pressure What could children do to relax themselves Do you have any better ideas ” Then, let students work in groups to talk about those questions. After few minutes, ask some students to talk about it.
6. Ask students to translate the text sentence by sentence. The teacher may help students when they have difficulty.
7. The teacher teach the language points in the text. The teacher may just explain the meaning of the important phrases below for students to understand better.

3.Work in pairs. Think about some good advice for Wei Ming. Also tell why he should do that.
4.Discuss with your partner about the questions in 2e. Make a conversation to talk about it.
Step 5 Homework:
1. Recite new words from Page 29 to Page32.
2. Review the text in 2b.
