教学目标 1.语言目标1.重点单词和短语重点单词: save, forget, cut, kill, flag, place, water, danger, tree, down, over, ivory.重点短语: get lost, be in (great) danger, cut down, (be) made of2.重点句子1 ) The elephants is one of Thailand's symbols.2)Let's save the Elephants.3)But elephants are in great danger.4)People also kill elephants for their ivory.5)We must save the trees and not buy things made of ivory.
2. 能力目标 1).教会学生根据文本结构和内容选抒恰当的标题和段落大意，意在培养学生快速阅读和归纳语篇中心的能力；2).通过整篇的阅读回答问题，培养学生回答问题的能力；3).让学生通过模仿文段朗读，初步形成意群的概念，并在朗读时能够正确地停顿；4).构建思维导图(Mind map)并利用思维导图进行文本复述的策略，帮助学生将零碎的信息分类整理成与主题密切相关，又相对独立的块状知识, 这不仅有助于学生深入理解语篇，抓住重要信息，而且能够增强学生的思维能力，提升注意力和记忆力，启发联想力和创造力；
3. 情感目标1).通过对读前读后的视频以及讨论和交流，让学生了解更多的濒危动物状况以及如何保护他们。2).通过文本内容的学习，唤起学生保护保护动物的意识，倡导学生做自己力所能及的事情来关爱动物, 关爱自然。
教学重难点 1).掌握并运用文中出现的重难点单词，短语及句型。2).根据文本结构和内容选择恰当的标题。3).根据思维导图复述义本。4）掌握一定的阅读技巧。5）关注濒危动物，学会如何爱护大自然。
教学方法 Task-based teaching method and Mind mapping instruction teaching method.
教学过程 Step l. Leading-in Watch a video about animals,ask and answer questions about animals：T:What’s the video talking about Ss: Animals.T:Yes,from the video we can know that many animals are in great danger. Now, let’s talk about animals in danger.（2a）（设计意图: 通过视频让同学们了解到一些濒临灭绝的动物的现状，以及导致濒临灭绝的原因，从而引入这节课的主题：谈论濒危的动物。）
Step2. Pre-reading. 读前预测新授单词。Task l. Get the students to read the words and the phrases orally.Task 2. Translate the words and phrases into Chinese.
Step3.While-reading. 读中理解Fast reading. ( Skimming )First, tell them how to find a topic sentence. Then finish some tasks. 1). From the picture ,we know that this article is about animals. 2) underline the topic sentence of each paragraph.3) Check (V) the best title for it.What is an elephant Come to ThailandLet’s Save the ElephantsElephants Are Good Pets （设计意图：训练学生快速阅读文章的能力, 并从中获取有效信息。）Careful reading (Scanning)Task1. Read Paragraph 1 in 2b and answer two questions. Task2. Read Paragraph 2 in 2b and check the pictures the passage mentioned. Task3. Read Paragraph 3 in 2b and complete the mind map. （设计意图：分段阅读，设计不同的任务，不仅能降低了难度, 并且任务的多样性和丰富性会让学生更有趣味。）
教学过程
Step4. Post-reading 读后巩固Retell the passage.Read the passage again, and complete the mind map to retell the paragraphs. Use what we have learned to describe another animal.（设计意图：思维导图是很好的一种复述手段，可以有效的锻炼同学们的思维能力，同时，第二个任务更是加大了运用的难度，让同学们能够学以致用。）
Step5. Educational function 1.Watch an video about animalsT: You are right. We should love animals and protect them.No buying, no killing! 2.Show some slogans about animals.（设计意图：把学习的知识运用到生活中, 教育学生要爱护并保护动物）
