本单元以“传说和故事”为话题，涉及新课标中“人于社会”范畴内“文学、艺术、体育”主题群中的跨文化沟通与交流、语言与文化子主题内容以及历史、社会、文化主题群中的中外文学史上有代表性的作家和作品和身份认同与文化自信。通过本单元的学习学生，学生在日常交际情景中，听力判断接近正常的水平。能在教师的指导下参与角色表演等活动，通过体会故事主题，形成积极面对、不畏困难、坚持不懈的品格、态度、价值观，并通过了解中外经典文学、文化作品，提高跨文化交际能力及文化自信。
教学内容分析
本单元主题是传说于故事，教材分别以对话讨论、故事简介、故事转述和故事剧本等多形态语篇为载体，促进学生对单元核心内容和技能的掌握。整个单元主要包含了两个主题听力对话，两个语篇语。语篇阅读和一篇主题写作训练，逐步引导学生学习故事复故复述的故事复述的基本要素，评论故事的主要情绪情节。理解故事传播的传达的含义。
学情分析
所授课学生为八年级普通班学生，学生英语水平不是很高，但对英语较有兴趣，但口语交际水平需要提高，所以要设计适合不同层次学生参与的活动，使不同层次学生的语言程度都有提高。本单元的话题“传说与故事”是学生比较熟悉和感兴趣的，教材中涉及的很多古代传说与外国童话故事，很多学生都阅读过相应的中文版本，这将有助于学生理解单元主题，参与讨论、复述、表演等课堂活动，也更容易激发学生的背景知识和生活常识。八年级的学生自主意识较强，求知欲强，同时该年龄段的学生正处于身心巨变成长的特殊时期，心理发展不稳定，遇到困难容易产生沮丧、不满、焦虑等情绪。通过本单元的学习，可以引导学生建立积极面对、坚持不懈品格的态度，培养学生积极向上的生活态度和奋斗精神。
