With the coming of autumn, we decide to make a list of autumn walks for you. These places will include historic buildings, wonderful scenery and wildlife for all to enjoy.
Formby Nature Reserve, Liverpool Formby is a town just north of Liverpool and is luckily one of the few places in Britain where there are a large number of red squirrels (松鼠). Children will love the excitement of getting to see these cute animals. The paths are well protected, meaning they are fit for pushchairs (折叠式婴儿车), and dogs are allowed, too. Lakeside walk at Stowe, Buckinghamshire This place is far from the center of the city and provides people with perfect chances to escape from the busy city lifestyle. The smooth and wide path around the river makes it fit for pushchairs or wheelchairs. This walk is short, meaning it is a great way for young people to choose walking as a hobby! The walk is great all year round.
Hadrian’s Wall, Newcastle The 73-mile-long Hadrian’s Wall was completed by the Romans in 128 AD after 6 years’ building. Autumn walks along Hadrian’s Wall are an excellent way to educate children on the history of the British Isles and really get close to the styles of Roman buildings. Lyme Park, Peak District Lyme Park is not only home to many trees, but also home to a group of red deer. This Peak District walk is fit for families. During the long cold winter, we like to eat some food that may make us fat. This is sometimes because it helps us keep warm and gives us energy, but often it’s because we need something to cheer us up. And that’s why we call it “comfort food”.
This kind of food that makes us feel good is different from person to person. It depends on your palate(味觉)and the connection you have with certain tastes and smells. The most popular comfort food is probably the biscuit. It’s thought that the sugary snack often brings back happy memories of childhood and family.
Moving on from sweet and sugary snacks, famous cook and food writer Mary Berry thinks it becomes natural to think about comfort food as soon as the weather gets colder and the nights become darker. And she suggests soup and warming foods as feel-good winter treats.
For comiorting dishes like noodles or pizza, many people like them also because they don’t require cooking skills in the kitchen. They are easy to make so we can get them quickly. However, we often eat too much. Even though we know they’re high in sugar or salt, we continue to pig out(大吃大喝). “By making us eat that food, our minds find a way to get a really good feeling. However, we often feel guilty (内疚的)because we don’t realize that,” said Psychologist Shira Gabriel.
Maybe we should take comfort from the fact that eating certain food just makes us feel happy. But, for some people, eating any kind of food brings joy, warmth, happiness and comfort.
( )21.How does the writer introduce a “comfort food”
A.By giving a fact. B.By asking a question. C.By giving a definition.
( )22.Why is the biscuit considered to be the most popular comfort food
A.Because it’s easy to make.
B.Because it tastes delicious.
C.Because it brings back our happy memories.
( )23.What does Mary Berry suggest as comfort food in winter
A. B. C.
( )24.Which of the following questions did Shira Gabriel answer
A.Why do our minds make us eat much comfort food
B Why do we like to eat fattening food in winter
C.Why do we like different kinds of comfort food

A long time ago, people were very different from the way we are now. Over time, the human body changes to adapt to a new way of life. Can we expect the human body to change in the future For sure. The development of technology is changing how we live. What kind of changes can we expect
In the future, people will probably be even taller. Most of us now have much better food than people in the past and we grow more. However, our muscles will not be as strong as now because we won’t do a lot of physical work.
We are already using our feet less, and our hands more. So we can expect that our legs will get shorter and our feet will get smaller, and at the same time, our fingers will get longer. And our fingers and our eyes will both get better because they’ll have to do more work together.
It’s very possible that people will have four toes, not five. The little toe really isn’t needed any more, so it will probably disappear sometime in the future.
Now, what about the ______ It’ll get smaller, perhaps, because technology improvement will mean that we don’t need to talk so much, and also because our teeth will get smaller.
Last but not least, people won’t have much hair on their bodies as now, as we don’t need it to keep ourselves warm any more.
Will all these things happen If so, when These are questions no one can answer for sure.

第三节(共5个小题;每小题2分,满分10分)
阅读下面短文,根据其内容填空和回答问题。(34至37题每题答案不超过3个单词,38题须用完整句子回答。)
Do you find it hard to say no whenever someone comes to you for help Do you feel guilty(内疚的)when you have to tell people that you can’t help them And do you often say “yes” while your true answer is “no” If you answered yes, you may be a “people-pleaser”.
Being friendly and helpful is a good thing. It helps you build lasting friendships. However, going too far—trying to please others even at the cost of your own happiness—can leave you feeling stressed. Luckily, there are some steps that you can take to stop being a people-pleaser.
To start with, it’s important to create “boundaries(边界)” in your life. Be clear about what you really like to do. You can also tell others that they can only come to you during a certain period of time.
When someone asks you for help, tell him or her that you need some time to think about it. Use this time to ask yourself: Do you really want to do this How much time will it take By giving yourself a few minutes, you’ll be better able to decide.
Some people always try to please others because they have little confidence in themselves. They place a low value on their own happiness. In this case, try positive self-talk. Remind yourself that you have dreams, too. You don’t have to give away your time and energy to do things that don’t bring you joy.
Making a sudden and big change can be hard, but you can break a huge task up into pieces. You may, for example, text to say no. Then, go straight to the person and say no. Practice this in less difficult situations first, such as talking to a salesperson or ordering at a restaurant. Then try refusing your friends or relatives.
Stopping being a people-pleaser doesn’t mean you have to give up being kind and helpful. You can still do good things—but don’t take away your own happiness.
34.People-pleasers refer to people who please others without thinking about _______.
35.If you please someone too much, you will end up putting a lot of _______ on yourself.
36.The first step to stop being a people-pleaser is _______.
37.The reason why people try to please someone is that they are lack of _______.
38.Do you think you’re a people-pleaser Why or why not
