Students can understand the multiple impacts of disasters: Although it has caused damage and brought great losses to people, it has also made people more united and overcome hardships together. Students will feel that unity can overcome more difficulties.

教学重点： Students can obtain the corresponding information according to the requirements of the topic by analyzing the text, and exercise their summary and generalization ability. Students can master the use of some new words and phrases. Students are able to understand the concepts of the reading skills (skimming and scanning) and apply them in practice.
教学难点： 1. Students can analyze the text according to the questions and come up with the correct answer.
2.Students can develop a collective concept of unity in the face of difficulties.

It rains heavily. We can use “ heavily” to describe that the storm is big. Alabama is in the southeast of the United States. The weather is unpredictable because of its unique location and natural conditions. Before you start reading, I’m going to introduce you to reading skills, which are skimming and scanning. Skimming: This means looking quickly through a piece of writing to find the main idea without reading every word, Just read for the gist. not to pursue the details. Scanning: This means moving your eyes quickly down the page to find specific information. Just skip reading, read for details. Ss: ( Learn concepts carefully and memorize them.)
