Step1 Lead-in Have a free talk and watch a video about the Climber.Let students think about why the writer use a question mark in the title.(Let students read the passage with the question in their mind) Step2 Task 1: Read the passage and match the main idea with each paragraph. Para.1 Spirit of climbers Para.2 Achievements of climbers Para.3 Facts and dangers Step3 Task 2: Read paragraph 1 and fill in the blanks Facts1.The Himalayas _________ the southwestern part of China. 2.It is __________meters high and so is very ____________to climb. Retell the achievements: In 1953,Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary were the first people to reach the top. In 1960,the first Chinese team reached the top.
