Terry Eugene Bollea, also known as Hulk Hogan, has inspired people for a very long time. Born on August 11, 1953, in Georgia, Hogan had a destiny that aimed for the stars. Terry always had an interest in wrestling, and he further developed the passion during high school. He gained his education at the Hillsborough Community College and then later on from the University of South Florida.
In order to pursue his goal, Hulk joined the local gym which was owned by brothers Jack and Jerry Brisco. Astonished by his performance, the brothers motivated him to perform even further. It was in 1979 when his hard work paid off and he was noticed by Vincent McMahon—the promoter of the World Wrestling Federation. McMahon gave Terry a chance to join the WWF and he accepted it. Because of his huge physique and unbelievable similarity to the Marvel Comics character “Hulk”, he took the advice of McMahon and adopted the stage name of Hulk Hogan.
To test his flexibility and strength, Hulk Hogan was pitted against (对决) Andre the Giant in 1980. Hogan won the match, alongside the hearts of fans all over the country. It is after this match that he caught the attention of Sylvester Stallone, who actually cast him in his movie Rocky 3.

In the fall of 2021, Jacob Geersen, a marine geologist, was teaching a one-week field course at the University of Kiel. Students were requested to map the shape of the seafloor. For some students, it’s the best time during their studies. “Usually if we go somewhere and do these measurements,” says Geersen, “then we find something interesting.”
One night, in the Bay of Mecklenburg, the students fired up the echosounders (回声测深仪) and mapped the seafloor. “We saw that there was something special on the seafloor,” says Geersen. They didn’t know at the time that they’d discovered a stone wall more than half a mile long dating back to the Stone Age. Geersen was used to seeing rocks and stones show up on the echosounder, but he could already tell that what he was seeing was different.
A year later, Geersen, his colleagues and a new group of students returned to that same site and lowered a camera down, and confirmed this ridge (脊状物) was made up of thousands of rocks that formed a kind of wall standing about 1.5 feet tall on average. Geersen didn’t know how such a structure could have formed naturally. “It was only when we went to the archaeologists that they said, ‘You may have found something very significant.’” Archaeologists on the project agreed that the wall was likely used by hunter-gatherers 10,000 to 11,000 years ago during the Stone Age to help them herd and hunt reindeer by the hundreds.
People living during the Stone Age were more complex than we tend to believe. “We always think of them on the edge of starvation, trying to make a living out of the landscape. And that’s just not true,” she says. “Instead, people in Europe were building things before these more classical structures that we think of.” However, to confirm this wall was made by human and used to hunt, more archaeological evidence of hunting-related activity is needed.
