Kitty Lunn was 8 when she decided to be a dancer. By the time she was 15, Kitty was dancing with the New Orleans Civic Ballet. She studied with famous teachers and graced the stage in celebrated ballets such as Swan Lake and The Nutcracker. When she was older, Kitty moved to New York City, where she worked as an actress and a dancer.
Kitty was getting ready to perform in her first Broadway show when her life changed forever. While hurrying to rehearsal(彩排), Kitty slipped on some ice and fell down a flight of stairs, resulting in a back injury that left her a paraplegic(瘫痪). This means she can move her arms and body but not her legs. It also means that Kitty now uses a wheelchair to get around.
At first, Kitty thought her life as a dancer was over. Then she learned something important. "The dancer was inside me," she said, "I didn't know or care that I was using a wheelchair. I just want to keep dancing." This realization lit a hope within her, and Kitty set her mind to find a way to continue her passion for dance.
In 1994, Kitty Lunn founded Infinity Dance Theater. Its members are dancers with and without disabilities. They used movements from ballet, modern dance, and jazz. Like some of the other dancers, Kitty used a special lightweight wheelchair that allows her to move with grace and smooth on stage.
When the 1996 Olympics were held in Atlanta, Georgia, Kitty was there. She performed a dance called The Dancer Within. This title is a good description of what Kitty believes. The Infinity dancers perform all over the world. They also help dance teachers learn to work with students who have disabilities. There are many other dance companies that include both wheelchair and standing dancers. Each of them would agree with Kitty's advice when she says, "Listen to the dancer in your heart." There's always a way to dance!

There are nearly 200 species of poison dart frogs, known for their bright colours and highly poisonous skin. Not only are they beautiful, they can also do a kind of tapdance. The frogs have a habit of tapping the middle toes on their back feet. Scientists have never fully worked out what the frogs are trying to achieve but a recent study could have solved the puzzle.
Researchers at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, in the US, filmed 22 dyeing poison dart frogs in enclosures(围场)that had soil, leaves and rocks on the ground—much like the frogs' natural habitat. At feeding time, the hungry frogs had one of their favourite foods—fruit flies put in front of them. The researchers found that the frogs tapped their toes an average of 389 times a minute when they had flies in their enclosure, compared to 50 times a minute when they didn't.
The researchers discovered that the frogs changed the amount of tapping depending on the type of surface they were on. They tapped more than twice as quickly on leaves as they did on soil, glass or a type of gel.
The researchers think this behaviour could be the frogs' way of getting the flies moving, making them easier to spot and therefore easier to catch. "Frogs can only really forage when prey(猎物)is alive and moving," explained Eva Fischer, who is one of the study's authors. Leaves carry vibrations(震动)better than other surfaces, so it makes sense for the frogs to tap more on leafy ground to take advantage of this.
To further test their theory, the researchers placed the flies in small dishes where the frogs could see them but not consume them. When this happened, the frogs still tried' to catch the flies but only tapped at a rate of around 50 times a minute. This observation suggests that the frogs only tapdance when they think they have a realistic chance of catching their prey.
28. What did the researchers study about the poison dart frogs
A. Their hunting habits. B. Their natural reactions.
C. Their feeding behaviors. D. Their toe-tapping habits.
29. Why do the frogs tap more on leafy ground
A. Leaves are comfortable for tapping. B. They communicate with other frogs.
C. Leaves help strengthen movement of flies. D. They enjoy the sound produced from leaves.
30. What does the underlined word "forage" refer to in paragraph 4
A. Tap toes. B. Find food. C. Change colour. D. Produce poison.
31. What does the experiment with the small dishes indicate
A. Frogs tap when flies are eatable. B. Frog tapping links to food presence.
C. Frogs tap when prey seems catchable. D. Frogs could recognize different flies.

Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope(FAST)is a Chinese mega-science project which aims to build a 500-meter diameter active reflector radio telescope in Guizhou province, to achieve wide sky-coverage and high sensitivity(灵敏度)for astronomical observations(天体观察). The construction of FAST started on March 25, 2011 and finished on September 25, 2016 as planned. On January 11, 2020, FAST passed national examination and began formal operation. Claimed as the China Sky Eye, FAST is the world's largest single-dish and the most sensitive radio telescope. "It has identified more than 900 new pulsars(脉冲星)since its launch, " its operator said Wednesday.
Han Jinlin, a scientist with the National Astronomical Observatories under the Chinese Academy of Sciences(NAOC), said that the pulsars included over 120 binary pulsars, more than 170 millisecond pulsars, and 80 faint and intermittent pulsars.
Han added that over the past 50 years since the discovery of the first pulsar, less than 3,000 pulsars were discovered worldwide, and the number of new pulsars discovered by FAST is more than three times the total number of pulsars found by foreign telescopes.
"The study is meaningful for understanding the dead stars in the Milky Way and their radiation characteristics," Han said.
Pulsar observation is an important task for FAST, which can be used to confirm the existence of gravitational radiation and black holes, and help find answers to many other major questions in physics.
Jiang Peng, chief engineer of the FAST, said that all staff members made every effort to improve the performance of the telescope. At present, the annual observation time of the telescope is about 5,300 hours, and it plays an important role in the continuous output of scientific research achievements.
32. When was FAST put into use formally
A. In 2011. B. In 2015. C. In 2016 D. In 2020.
33. What can we know about FAST according to Han Jinlin
A. It is the costliest project in the world. B. It is the largest telescope in the world.
C. It has the highest sensitivity in the world. D. It discovered the most pulsars in the world.
34. What is the significance of pulsars observation
A. For physical research. B. For telescope test.
C. For theoretical assumption. D. For data collection.
35. Which aspect of FAST does this passage mainly talk about
A. Its location. B. Its construction.

We decided to take a taxi to go to our house. It started raining, and none of the taxis stopped for us, except one.
The driver looked very worried and sad, asking us where we wanted to go and we told the place. Without delay, he said warmly, "Please get in! "We thanked him and got in.
Since it was very cold, I asked the driver to stop at any small restaurant or a tea shop. We wanted to have a cup of hot tea. The driver hesitated for a moment, wanted to say something, but gave up. And then he stopped near a small restaurant.
We ordered tea, and asked the driver to join us and have a cup of tea. The driver refused. I insisted, but he refused again politely.
My friend asked, "Will you not take tea from this shop or what "
The driver replied, "No Sir, I don't feel like having tea now.”

In 15 minutes, we reached our house. We paid the fare and the driver thanked us.
After thinking over and over again, I stopped him, as I really wanted to ask him why he refused to drink tea with us at the restaurant.
