Dallas-based Knit Wits is made up of a group of grandmothers with a strong love for knitting(编织) who turn their love for crafting(精心制作) into a purposeful attempt. Meeting regularly, they pour their collective love into every stitch(针法) they make. The group has been working for over ten years, meeting every Friday, to support organizations that help others, locally and around the world. Over the years, they've crafted thousands of items insupport of the important things.
Recently the Knit Wits member Mary Ann Stover was encouraged to have the group knit hats for infant(婴儿) patients with heart disease at Children’s Health Hospital. The hats, each a unique work of art, designed with holiday themes, reflect the skill of the Knit Wits. More importantly, the special of Knit Wits is its understanding of the emotional effect these small objects can have on the infants experiencing medical treatments.
Bealle, a certified child life specialist at Children's Health Hospital, explained how the hats are making a difference to the tiny patients and their families. “Caregivers are able to wear the hats on their body to move their smells before placing the hats back on the infants, encouraging connecting and making the infants less stressful,” he said.
Throughout the infants’ admission, many holidays are celebrated. At times, some infants are seriously ill and unable to dress up for holiday photos the families have planned. Dragons, a famous imaginary beast born from fantasy, are often present in stories in the west and east. In both cultures, dragons are generally recognized as huge creatures capable of flight. They have great power and are often connected with magical abilities. However, due to their different cultural roots and images, there exist significant differences in the way dragons are regarded in the west and east, particularly in China.
Chinese dragons are most like snakes, and have four claws and no wings. They often have features of other animals, including carp, tigers, and eagles. However, Western dragons look like huge lizards(蜥蜴) with big claws and large bat-like wings, and are often shown with spines or rough(粗糙的) scales.
In traditional Chinese culture, a dragon is a symbol of luck, power and high position. They can cause weather changes and bring rainfall to the fields to ensure rich harvests. They are considered divine(神圣的) creatures, which hold an important position as the head of the four spirits. Therefore, to symbolize their power, ancient Chinese emperors decorated their clothes with dragon patterns. These clothes are known as dragon robes. Many Chinese view the dragon as a national symbol, proudly referring to themselves as “descendants(后代) of the dragon”. In the west, however, a dragon symbolizes an evil(邪恶的) creature that spreads violence(暴力) and terror throughout the land. They are believed to be transformed by the devil, with the ability to breathe fire or spit poison. Many Western tales show dragons being defeated and killed to protect people from danger.
Today, dragons continue to develop, beating traditional boundaries and finding new significance in global culture. They are no longer connected with evil or good, but rather as complex(复杂的) characters with their own special personalities. For example, Toothless from How to Train Your Dragon begins as a dangerous dragon but turns into a misunderstood being with love. This challenges the idea of dragons as naturally evil, presenting them as complex beings with emotions.
28. What do Western dragons and Eastern dragons have in common
A. They have rough skin. B. They are huge and powerful.
C. They are in the shape of snakes. D. They have big claws and wings.
29. What do we know from Paragraph 3
A. Western dragons are a symbol of authority. B. Dragons in China can protect people from danger.
C. Chinese dragons can control rainfall and breathe fire. D. Dragons are believed to cause mess in Western culture.
30. What is new about dragons in today's global culture
A. They are regarded as adventurous creatures. B. They are closely connected with evil or good.
C. They have more various emotions and personalities. D. They tend to represent human spirits facing challenges.
31. Which of the following is the best title for the text
A. The Dragon Elements in Global Culture B. The Origin of Dragons in Chinese History

Imagine being able to see perfectly in the dark. This dream has become a reality thanks to a newly developed technology. This technology consists of a thin film that will be placed on the lenses(镜片) of common glasses. The film is cheap to make, easy to produce, and is lightweight. It is actually 100 times thinner than a hair. Yet, despite its tiny size, its performance is impressive; this special film allows you to see in the dark.

Over the years, night vision devices(设备) have been developed to help the medical, industrial, and scientific worlds. Scientists are able to study night-time animals by using infrared cameras, while companies use infrared imaging for food quality control.
Traditional infrared devices work by discovering the heat of an object. They use a cooler in low temperature and can be easily influenced by the heat noise. Such shortcoming led the team into exploring an improved device.
Their new device is able to function at room temperature. The new technology is unlike the traditional devices. Once this new night vision is used to all, it could save lives. Drivers will be able to see better at night, especially when driving on unlighted roads. Police can use them when searching at night, and hikers who lose their way can feel more confident walking in the dark.
The inventors are excited to make the practical uses. “While this is the first experiment, we are actively working to further advance the technology. Of course, the many uses are exciting and seeing in the dark opens up a new world for all,” said Mohsen Rahmani, lead developer of the technology,

One possible version:
Anna filled out the form. She loved reading aloud. When she was a child. she read aloud to her teddy bear. Later, when she grew up and became a teacher, she read aloud to her students many times throughout the day. Since her retirement, she read aloud only to herself and her cat. It would feel so good to have a human audience once again to share stories with. A couple of days later. Anna sat in the empty small theatre in the library, preparing the first Chinese story she was going to read.
Soon, the audience began to walk in and find their seats. Anna stepped to the edge of the stage and introduced herself. She explained the origin of the story, opened the book and began to read. She created voices for the characters, pausing for emphasis, and taking the listeners into another world. When Anna read the last words of the story. there was a momentary silence as it all sank into the listeners and then a burst of enthusiastic applause. At that moment, understanding did grow in the town through the sharing of stories.
