Chinese netizens recently expressed amazement at a map filled with thickly dotted signs clearly marking the country’s historic sites and cultural relics. The map was made by Wu Yunjie, who was born in the 1990s.
Wu has a deep interest in cultural relics and history. When he was in college, he would often make use of his spare time to travel around the country, exploring and documenting ancient sites. In 2020, he started collecting information on cultural relic protection units and uploaded the data to the mapping software.
As some of the information is not fully disclosed and many historical sites in far areas cannot be located specifically, Wu spent a lot of time on research and carrying out on-site visits.
Now, the map includes nearly 10,000 historical landmarks with different colors standing for different kinds: Red signs show the cultural relic sites under state protection or the national-level museums, while green signs stand for the provincially protected historical sites. A lot of ancient temples, bridges and other architecture in the far areas are also marked on the map. A netizen posted, “I actually found the ancient tower around my house on the map!”
However, in Wu’s eyes, the map is not perfect, as it recorded less than two percent of the over 760,000 immovable cultural relics registered in the country’s third national survey of cultural relics.
But Wu has been working on improving it. “If possible, I’d also like to document the cultural relics that have been lost overseas. Those treasures may not be able to return to their homeland for the time being, but the stories that they carry are what we need to see.”
( )24.What can we learn about Wu Yunjie
A.He worked as a software engineer. B.He developed a mapping software.
C.He had a deep interest in travelling. D.He was a young responsible netizen.
( )25.What does the underlined word “disclosed” in paragraph 3 probably mean
A.Applied B.Spread. C.Discovered. D.Understood.

B.To introduce how to use the map properly.
C.To prove the map is believable and informative.
D.To explain the meaning of different colors on the map.
( )27.What does Wu Yunjie plan to do
A.Include cultural relics lost overseas in his map.
B.Bring cultural treasures back to China from abroad.

The world’s oldest living land animal, Jonathan the Seychelles giant tortoise (巨型陆龟), celebrated his 191st birthday this week.
Jonathan is thought to have been born around 1832, before the invention of the telephone, lightbulb or postage stamp. He’s lived through 40 U. S. presidents and 31 governors of Saint Helena, the small island in the Atlantic where he lives. St. Helena is widely known for being the final residence of Napoleon Bonaparte, who died there after his failure at the Battle of Waterloo.
Though his exact age is unknown, Jonathan was fully grown when he was gifted to the island’s governor in 1882, which experts said meant he was at least 50 years old. Last year, the tortoise was given an official birthday of December 4, 1832—but experts say he’s likely even older. Seychelles giant tortoises have an average life expectancy of 150 years.
Despite his advanced age, Jonathan’s longtime veterinarian (兽医) Joe Hollins tells Guinness World Records (GWR) the creature shows “no sign of slowing down”. “Despite losing his sense of smell and being virtually blind, he always enjoys meals.”
Historically, Seychelles giant tortoises’ threats included being hunted for food and being sold abroad. Now, however, inbreeding (近亲繁殖) is their greatest threat. In 2011, only 37 adult tortoises remained.
“It is extraordinary to think that this gentle giant has outlived every other living creature on land, including, of course, the whole human race,” Hollins tells GWR. “Jonathan is in good health and all the signs at present make us hopeful that he will reach his third century.”
( )28.According to the text, Jonathan is ______.
A.the final resident of Saint Helena B.the biggest Seychelles giant tortoise
C.the oldest living creature in the ocean D.the animal aged for nearly two centuries
( )29.The author describes Jonathan’s age using following method EXCEPT ______.
A.listing numbers B.taking examples C.giving definitions D.making comparisons
( )30.How many factors about the tortoises’ threats are mentioned
A.Four. B.Three. C.Two. D.One.
( )31.What did Joe Hollins say about Jonathan
A.Jonathan’s health started failing. B.Jonathan has lost desire for food.
C.Jonathan is expected to liver longer. D.Jonathan’s species group is in danger.

Music can have a strong effect on our emotions. But what happens when we listen to music in a live setting Do our brains react differently depending on whether the music we’re listening to is live or recorded
A team of researchers at the University of Zurich led by Sascha Frühholz, professor of cognitive and affective neuroscience (神经学), has now explored this question. The researchers investigated the effects of live music and recorded music on emotional processes in the human brain.
They conducted an experiment in which a pianist changed the live music he was playing to increase the emotional reactions in the amygdala (杏仁体), the emotional center in the brain. During the experiment, the researchers used magnetic resonance imaging (磁共振成像) to measure the activity in the amygdala of the 27 listeners as well as the performer in real time. Based on these measurements, the pianist then adapted his performance to further increase the audience’s emotions. To compare reactions, the listeners were played a recording of the same music performed by the same musician.
“Our study showed that live music caused much higher and more long-lasting activity in the amygdala than recorded music. The live performance also brought about a more active exchange of information in the whole brain,” says Frühholz.
People have always used instruments to make live music. It wasn’t until technical advances in the early 20th century that music was able to be recorded and made widely spread to all people. Even today, though, despite music streaming platforms and high-quality loudspeakers and headphones, the social experience of attending a live concert cannot be taken place of.
( )32.Why does the author raise questions in paragraph 1
A.To introduce the topic. B.To present an argument.
C.To call for different answers. D.To make a survey among readers.
( )33.How did the researchers get the results
A.By observing listeners’ brain reaction.
B.By encouraging listeners to play the piano.
C.By investigating listeners’ memory of music.
D.By asking listeners to comment on the pianist.
( )34.What kind of effects can be caused by live music
A.The same effect as the recorded music. B.Listeners’ longer emotional experience.
C.Equal pleasant and unpleasant emotions. D.Less exchange of information in the brain.
( )35.What can be a suitable title for the text
A.Great Musician: A Guide of Amygdala’s Magic Trip
B.Recorded Piano Music: A Soul’s Impressive Adventure
C.Music’s Big Power: A Life’s Emotional Transformation
D.Live Music’s Unique Effect: A Brain’s Emotional Journey

Playing around on the playground with my friends, I was having fun when suddenly a wind carried my short, light-brown hair right off. Living with alopecia areata, an autoimmune disease that caused my hair to fall out, I started wearing a wig (假发).
When I was just one, my mum had noticed a small bald patch (秃斑) on the left side of my head. The older I got, the more bald patches I’d developed. “Hair grows faster when you cut it,” Mum suggested when I was six, scissoring off the leftover. Waiting hopefully for my hair to grow, I soon realized it wasn’t coming back and disappointment set in.
Mum took me to the wig shop at the local shopping centre, but I was limited to just two synthetic (合成的) children’s wigs. I picked a light-brown one. While it covered my head, it didn’t look like real hair.
Still too young to really care, I used my wig much like a hat, taking it off if it got too hot and sweaty on the playground.
By 11, I began to realize just how different I was from other kids of my age.
“Why don’t I have hair I just want to be like all the other girls,” I said to Mum, feeling down.
“You’re beautiful the way you are,” she always said.
A hairdresser who attended our local community had an idea, and helped fit me with my first wig made from human hair. Pulling it on, it looked more natural, and it was more comfortable.
Years on, when I was 25, I joined a Facebook support group for people living with alopecia. Meeting up with other members, it was the first time that I’d seen people who looked just like me.

Protect Wildlife, Protect Ourselves
It’s well-known that wildlife is important. From the mighty elephant to the small grass, each species contributes to biodiversity, which ensures the health of our environment.
To protect our animal and plant friends, we must act responsibly. First, raise the awareness of wildlife preservation—wildlife is the heartbeat of our plane, essential for the balance of ecosystems. Meanwhile, promote sustainable practices like banning wildlife hunting or gathering. In addition, make efforts to build natural reserves and seed banks.
Through collective efforts, we can secure a future where humans and wildlife live together harmoniously. Let’s unite to protect the irreplaceable wonders of the wild!

Good afternoon, and welcome to England. We hope that your visit here will be a pleasant one. Today, I would like to draw your attention to a few of the laws. The first one is about drinking. Now, you may not buy alcohol in this country if you are under 13 years of age. Not may your friends buy it for you either. Secondly, noise. Enjoy yourselves by all means, but please don’t make unnecessary noises, particularly at night. Thirdly, crossing the road. Be careful. The traffic moves on the left side of the road in this country. Use the crossing for walking and do not take any chances when crossing the road. My next point is about litter. It is against the law to throw away waste materials in a public place. When you have something to throw away, please put it in your pocket and take it home, or put it in a litter bin. At last, I’d like to finish by saying that if you require any sort of help, you should get in touch with local police station, who will help you. Now is there any question
