Since 2008, she’s led five groups of students across China to study its culture and history.Gerard often reminds students that the trip is not a vacation—it’s an academic course. “Anyone interested in the trip must take an online course about the history of China before they can go,” she said. “And, most importantly , students continue to learn while in China. They’re expected to listen to guides, keep a diary and write about their experiences afterward.”OTC student Ross Weis believed his experiences in China easily transcended (超越) anything he could have learned in the classroom. In fact, it was his long-held interest in China that led him to ask about the trip after seeing a poster in the OTC library. “I’ve always been drawn to China and its rich culture and history,” Weis said. “My dad studied history in college, and I suppose that has some influence on me.”Of all the cities and historical sites Weis visited, he said nothing could top his experience at the Great Wall, “I’d read about the Great Wall and seen it on TV, but it is so different to go there and actually experience it,” he said. “It wasn’t as worn as I had expected it to be. That was pretty cool.”Every OTC group Gerard has taken to China has been led by her trusty tourist agent, Jim Lieu. Gerard plans her trips directly through Lieu, who keeps travel costs down for students. “Lieu and I have an excellent relationship with one another. He always knows what I want for my students, and I know what he can do,” said Gerard: “He sincerely believes that in order to build stronger communities and a better world, people around the world should get to know each other through travel.”24.What should the students do before their trip to China A.Consult a native guide. Need proof Just look at the 60,000 tonne-mountain of poisonous and thrown-away clothing that is visible from space. Now, France is taking steps to resist the supercharged way people consume clothes, with the country recently announcing it will pay all citizens a “repair bonus” for taking their clothes in to get fixed rather than throwing them in the bin.Beginning in October, citizens who bring their clothes in for repairs will be able to claim back a ?6 to ?25 bonus, with the total payment depending on the complexity of the repair. All bonuses will be paid from a ?154 million sustainability fund the government has set aside for the next five years.By calling on people to take their items to get fixed, the government hopes to cut fast fashion waste throughout the country and encourage customers to purchase more “virtuous” products. In other words: the government is begging you to fix your clothes, rather than continuously over-consuming the products of fast fashion sites like Shein or Boohoo.“It could encourage exactly the people who have bought, for example, shoes from a brand that makes good-quality shoes or likewise good-quality and ready-to-wear clothes to want to have them fixed instead of getting rid of them,” explained France’s junior ecology minister Bérangère Couillard, who announced the programme in Paris. “That is exactly the objective, to create a recycling economy for shoes and clothes so that products last longer, because in government we believe in the second life of a product.”She also shared hopes that the programme will increase employment for French tailors and shoemakers. “The goal is to support those who carry out repairs,” she explained, while inviting all repair shops to join in the campaign for free.28.What do people usually do with old clothes according to the text A.Put them away in the cupboard. B.Mend them in the repair shops.C.Donate them to those in need. D.Throw them in the dustbins.29.Which word can replace the underlined word “virtuous” in Pargraph4 A.Fashionable. B.Sustainable. C.Convenient. D.Comfortable.30.What does Bérangère Couillard hope will be one of the results of the programme A.Creating jobs for tailors and shoemakers. B.Encouraging the community economy.C.Increasing sales for fast fashion brands. D.Reducing taxes on clothing repairs.31.What is the best title of the text A.French Repair Shops Serve People for FreeB.France Leads a New Trend in Fashion IndustryC.French Repairing Program Pays People to Reduce WasteD.France Encourages Citizens to Mend Clothes ThemselvesDIn a world where nearly 6 million fingerprint records of government employees are stolen in one computer hack, and where millions of people are victims of identity theft every year, the next step in cyber-security may well be mapping your brain.Researchers at Binghamton University are working on a biometric (生物特征的) system that records how your brain reacts to certain images. With a little more polishing, the scientists’ brainchild could become the way you get into a safe deposit box, your office or past scanners at the airport. It could replace the password for your online banking, your e-mail or your social media accounts. They started their project by measuring the brain waves of 30 subjects. The subjects were fitted with a cap that had 30 electrodes (电极) attached to it, and then shown various images and symbols—celebrity faces, words, pictures of food—on a computer screen in 200-lliscond bursts. The brain’s reaction was recorded. The idea is that every time a person needs to use a “password”, he or she goes through the same procedure, and the results are matched to their first-time reaction. If the “brainprint” is cracked—like what happened to the fingerprint records—then the system is merely reset by running another set of images and collecting a different set of brain waves. “Even if that was stolen, you could just cancel it and record one to something else”, says professor Laszlo.Laszlo and her team have shown that their system can be 100 percent accurate. So one of the most difficult parts of making the system practical already has been overcome. Now, they’re spending much time recording accurate brainprints with as few as three electrodes, which could make recording in the future as easy as wearing a pair of special gasses. They’re also working with cheaper materials and different methods to see if they can bring the cost down.32.Why were the images and symbols shown to the subjects A.To match brainprints with pictures. B.To imitate the brain’s reaction.C.To create their brainprints. D.To connect brain waves to electrodes.33.What will happen when a brainprint fails A.A new one will be set again. B.The same one will be ready beforehand.C.The users’ security will be threatened. D.The fingerprint record will replace it.34.What are the researchers doing with the programme now A.Improving its accuracy. B.Making it user-friendly.C.Recording more brainprints. D.Increasing the number of electrodes.35.Where can you read the passage A.In a biography. B.In a travel guide.C.In a fashion brochure. D.In a science magazine.第二节(共5小题,每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项,选项中有两项为多余选项。Use Body Language to Build TrustBody language can help people see you as more trustworthy, resulting in stronger relationships at home, work and school. 36Keep eye contact when someone is talking. It will help build trust because it shows real interest. 37 Building stronger human ties makes it easier to trust people and know more about them.Uncross your arms and legs. You might only be crossing your arms and legs because you’re cold. However, that will close you off. You’re unknowingly communicating something negative because you’ve positioned your body in a way that blocks any basis for building trust. Make sure your body looks open. 38Don’t sit behind a desk. 39 According to Professor Carla Chamberlin-Quinlisk, sitting at a table with her students encourages them to be more vocal during class. So try the smart way to get your boss to trust you.40 Sometimes notes are necessary when you’re talking to a coworker, but make sure all that doesn’t get in the way of your eye contact. If you’re constantly writing down what the other person says, that person could start feeling self-conscious. What’s more, taking notes makes the other person feel uncomfortable. And they may question like “Why are they writing that down ”A.Thus, you’ll look more open to hearing others’ thoughts. B.Sitting behind a desk could make the person you’re talking to put his or her own walls up. C.So put your phone down and listen with your eyes. D.Nod and smile while someone is talking. E.Limit your own note taking. E.Although some gestures vary across cultures, there’re certain basic body language gestures. G.Unfortunately, most people have no training on how to read body language.第三部分:语言运用(共两节,满分30分)第一节 完形填空(共15小题,每小题1分,满分15分)阅读下面短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中,选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。Running marathons is quite a challenge. He admired the attractive sights along the road with colorful flowers on both sides, and fresh air full of pleasant smell. It seemed to be a great day.Mark was passing a park when he noticed an elderly woman walking about 100 meters ahead slowly falling down onto the ground. He felt his heart standing still with great concern. With nobody else around to turn to for help, Mark decided to ride over to see what was wrong with her for himself. As he approached the old lady, he found her lying on the ground and looking pale and weak. Judging from her untidy clothes and messy hair, she might have been out for more than one day.“Are you all right, Granny ” Mark asked anxiously, shaking her arm. The old lady opened her eyes, a confused and lost expression on her face. She hesitated and then took a closer look. Immediately a big smile appeared on her face. Grasping Mark’s hand, she said with shining eyes, “John, there you are at last! My son, I’m hungry… hungry… Give me food…” she repeated, patting herself on the stomach. Not knowing what to do, Mark anxiously asked her, “Granny, where is your home Can you tell me who your son is ” But the old lady didn’t respond, only mumbling (嘟囔), “I’m hungry. Give me food, John.” Obviously, she mistook Mark for her son.All of a sudden, Mark realized the old lady might be a patient with Alzheimer’s (痴呆症) disease because his own late grandpa used to suffer from such a condition. “She might have gone out without being noticed by her family. They must have been worried about her. Maybe they’re searching like crazy for her everywhere.” Mark thought to himself, “But she is so starved. I must give her some food before I get in touch with her family.”注意:1.续写词数应为150左右;2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。Looking around, Mark saw Billy’s Hamburgers nearby. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Just then the old lady reached into her pocket, a note dropping out. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________咸阳市2023~2024学年度第二学期普通高中期末质量检测高二英语试题参考答案及评分标准第一部分:听力(共两节,满分30分)第一节(共5小题,每小题1.5分,满分7.5分)1.A 2.B 3.C 4.A 5.A第二节(共15小题,每小题1.5分,满分22.5分)6.B 7.C 8.B 9.C 10.A 11.B 12.B 13.A14.A 15.B 16.C 17.B 18.C 19.A 20.C第二部分:阅读(共两节,满分50分)第一节(共15小题,每小题2.5分,满分37.5分)A)21.B 22.C 23.AB)24.B 25.A 26.D 27.CC)28.D 29.B 30.A 31.CD)32.C 33.A 34.B 35.D第二节(共5小题,每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)36.F 37.C 38.A 39.B 40.E第三部分:语言运用(共两节,满分30分)第一节 完形填空(共15小题,每小题1分,满分15分)41.C 42.A 43.B 44.D 45.A 46.C 47.B 48.C49.A 50.D 51.D 52.A 53.B. 54.C 55.B第二节 语法填空(共10小题,每小题1.5分,满分15分)56.the 57.where 58.Known 59.in 60.was listed61.destinations 62.its 63.gave 64.ranging 65.to feel第四部分:写作(共两节,满分40分)第一节(满分15分)参考范文:Dear Ms. Johnson,I’m Li Hua, a senior two student from our school. He picked out the most expensive burgers in the restaurant. Seeing the large quantity of expensive bread, the cashier asked puzzledly, “Are these hamburgers for you to eat ” Mark replied, “I didn’t eat them. And the owner said, “We should all try our best to help those in need.” Mark thanked the owner for his kindness and brought the burgers to the old lady.Just then the old lady reached into her pocket, a note dropping out. There was a study conducted at the University of California recently. Dr. Robert, who led the study, said his team treated ChatGPT like a high school student and quizzed it on various books. I saw pictures recently of some really cool looking ones. They grow on the ground or on some trees.M: You’re not going to try and cook them, are you W: No. I think they would be a good subject for me to practice my ink drawing. I needed a subject for my next art school project.M: That makes sense. There are probably a lot of them out during this time of year. I’ve never liked to eat mushrooms, though. My mother loves them. When I lived at home, she would always make mushroom soup.W: I love mushrooms. They’re so interesting. I learned that the mushrooms we see are often one single creature that is all connected underground. Not only that, but they are very good nutrition for the areas that they grow in.M: That’s interesting. I think bamboo grass is very similar in the way that it grows. Ocean Life is set in fantastic grounds and we advise you to spend several hours wandering around. There are over forty shows, as well as plenty of other activities for all the family. We feel that it is better that some sea creatures such as whales and sharks aren’t kept in a sea park, because they have better lives in their natural homes. However, although you won’t see these creatures here, you will learn about them in many of our interesting and educational shows. Education is important, but we know that being interested while finding things out is more important, especially for our younger visitors. Our specially trained staff can answer any of your questions about the sea, sea life, pollution and protection. We also encourage school visits, and help teachers by providing information and ideas for use in the classroom. Ocean Life is also known for saving sea creatures. We offer care for injured creatures sent to us and we return them to their natural homes when they are strong enough. It is our aim to make sure that our visitors become aware of the problems and dangers that affect sea life. OK, thanks for listening to me.第二节到此结束。现在,你有两分钟的时间将试卷上的答案转涂到答题卡上。听力部分到此结束。 展开更多...... 收起↑ 资源列表 咸阳市高二期末质量检测.mp3 陕西省咸阳市2023-2024学年高二下学期7月期末英语试题.docx
