The history alone creates mystery and awe from fans. The official London residence for the Queen and her family has been in existence since 1837. Queen Elizabeth Ⅱ took the throne in 1953. In the summer, the State Rooms in the palace are open to the public for tours. However, much of the Queen’s home is off limits. It is reported that the most expensive home in Europe at an estimated 1.5 billion includes 775 rooms.
The Richest YouTube channel recently took viewers on a tour of the ultra-luxurious(超级豪华) inside part of one of the most famous residences in the world.
The Grand Staircase
The first thing visitors see when walking into the palace is a magnificent, red carpet lined staircase, added by Queen Victoria in 1898. Portraits of the royal family line the walls so visitors can view history as they make their way toward the State Rooms.
The Regency(摄政) Room
Fans have surely seen this green and gold room with tassel trim sofas, a desk and traditional fireplace. The famous room is often where the Queen’s official photos are taken and the annual Christmas broadcast is filmed.
The 1844 Room
This room is often used to greet special guests and world leaders. With marble columns and gold mirrors, perhaps most notable is the 1820 neoclassical desk against one wall and the blue and gold chairs on either side.
Outside
Of course, a visit to Buckingham Palace wouldn’t be complete without watching the changing of the guard, a tradition beginning in 1911. One more top-secret feature of the palace—the series of tunnels underneath the property. One, reportedly even leads to the House of Parliament.

William was a student who was the only son of his wealthy parents and felt entitled to the luxuries he had in his life. On a class field trip, William met the forester, Victor, who had been living in a wooden house in the forest over ten years. When learning Victor’s life, William laughed at him with his friends.
During the field trip, William and his classmates passed by an entrance to a cave. “This looks so cool!” William exclaimed. He wanted to go inside the cave, but his teacher stopped him.
The next day, William reached the cave with his four friends, only to find they couldn’t take their schoolbags through the entrance. One by one, the teenagers entered the cave and were amazed to see how wide it was from the inside. Albert picked a large stone up and hit one of the walls with it. “This place is so cool!” he laughed quietly before the rocks from the wall came falling.
“Watch out, Albert!” William said and pulled Albert towards himself. The teenagers screamed in fear when they saw the rocks fall. They couldn’t see anything because of the dust floating in the air.
The friends were scared when they realized they were trapped in the cave. The teenagers started screaming for help, hoping someone would hear them.
Fate sent Victor to the cave. The forester picked berries every other day from the trees near the cave. While he was walking back to his house, five bright-colored schoolbags caught his attention. Then he approached the cave and shouted, “Hey! Who’s in there ”
“I’m William! I came here yesterday with my teacher! Help us, please! We are stuck!”
“Okay, calm down, children! I’ll help you out!” Victor said.
Victor quickly called 911 and informed them about the emergency. Thinking the paramedics would take at least twenty minutes to arrive, he decided to help the kids himself before it was too late. Victor quickly grabbed a shovel and a flashlight and rushed back to the cave’s entrance. Meanwhile, William and his friends tried to stay calm. A few minutes later, they could see the flashlight shine through the cave’s entrance. Seconds later, they rushed outside the cave and took a deep breath in the fresh air. Just then, the paramedics arrived.

Social media is taking over our lives: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and now, TikTok. These social media platforms have transformed from a way to stay connected to an industry where even kids can make money off their posts. While this may seem like another opportunistic(机会主义) innovation, it’s really full of hidden false realities.
The median income(中位收入) recorded in the United States of America was about $63,000 in 2018. TikTokers can make anywhere from $50,000 to $150,000 for a TikTok brand partnership, and TikTokers with over a million followers can make up to $30,000 a month—$360,000 a year. They are making more than the average person trying to feed their family and keep a roof over their heads, simply by posting a 15-second video.
This is mad in more ways than one. Not only is it an overpaid “job”, it promotes undeserved admiration from viewers and a false sense of reality. Many of these famous TikTokers are still teens, and the effects of fame at such an early stage in life might cause issues later in life, such as mental illness. Teens between the ages of 13 and 17 make up 27% of TikTok viewers, who can be easily influenced by what they are watching. They can put a false sense of self-value into who they look up to and what they represent: money, fame, being considered conventionally attractive.
While TikTok has become a great tool for marketing, it’s important to understand how this content affects young viewers. If we’re constantly consuming content that shows us all we need to do to be successful is be conventionally attractive and post a 15-second video featuring a new dance, it will challenge our knowledge of what really makes someone successful and will in turn affect our individual work ethics(伦理). What about the people who miss birthday and family holidays due to their jobs and aren’t getting paid nearly as much as these TikTokers
Richard Colyer, president and creator of Metaphor, Inc, had his own view on this issue. “It sounds great to make money for doing the latest dance moves in a 15-second video, but we should feed the minds of kids and not just their bank accounts. TikTok can be great if used properly. Money alone is not good, technology alone is not good and connectedness can be bad if it’s only online.”
Again, as a fellow consumer of TikTok, I do enjoy the app when I have some time to kill and need a good laugh. I’ m not against someone making a living on entertainment, but what does getting famous of a 15-second video teach young people
28.What does the underlined word “this” in Paragraph 1 refer to
A.Social networking. B.Making money on social media.
C.A job offered by TikTok. D.Staying connected to the Internet.
29.What do the numbers given in Paragraph 2 show

C.Most TikTokers can become millionaires overnight.
D.TikTokers earn much more than ordinary workers.
30.Which is the possible influence of TikTok on its young users
A.They tend to live an adult life too soon.
B.They are forced to pay for certain services.
C.They may abandon other social media.
D.They are likely to develop false value.
31.What can we infer from Richard Colyer’s comments
A.TikTok can be a positive influence if teens employ it wisely.
B.Young TikTokers should be banned from making money.
C.It is better to involve education on investment in TikTok videos.
D.Contents of videos need checking before their release online.

For most people, a minor wound will be relatively harmless. After some time the wound will heal and disappear without leaving any visible evidence on the skin. But it is not so simple for everybody. Diabetics (糖尿病人) and elderly people with reduced blood circulation may have far greater issues when it comes to wound healing. However, scientists have introduced a new weapon against such extreme wound reactions.
Swedish scientists from Chalmers University of Technology have developed a technology which can stimulate wound healing so that it can happen more rapidly. The technique involves electrifying the skin. “Long-standing wounds make up a severe problem that we do not hear very much about,” says Associate Professor Maria Asplund from Chalmers University of Technology, who headed the project. “We have now found a method that can make wounds heal up to three times faster, which could be a game changer for elderly people and diabetics, who often have wounds that cannot heal.”
To test this, the Chalmers researchers made a kind of biochip (生物芯片) on which they grew skin cells. They then made small wounds in the artificial skin and tested how fast the wound healing happened when they either passed electricity through the chip or did not. The results showed the healing process happening three times faster in the presence of electricity.
The scientists will now receive funds to continue their research beyond the lab. “At the moment we are investigating how different skin cells react to electrical stimulation to find out what would correspond to (匹配)realistic wounds,” says Asplund. “We aim to develop a concept that allows us to examine wounds and personalize the electrical stimulation to individual wound types. We are convinced that this is the way to help people with slow-healing wounds.”
32.Who will most benefit from the new technology
A.People with high blood sugar. B.People who have heart attack.
C.People who get wounded easily. D.People with high blood pressure.
33.What does Paragraph 3 mainly talk about the test
A.Methods to produce artificial skin and cure the patients.
B.Required experimental conditions to carry out the research.
C.Efforts to find out whether electricity can speed up wound healing.
D.Benefits of adopting advanced technology in the biochip experiment.
34.What does Asplund think of wound healing with electricity
A.Debatable. B.Limited. C.Typical. D.Hopeful.
35.Which can be a suitable title for the text
A.Electricity Cures Slow-healing Wounds
B.New Weapon Helps Patients with Diabetics
C.Diabetics and the Elderly Suffer Wound Healing
D.New Technology Helps Speed up Healing Wounds

Kids are begging parents for cell phones at younger and younger ages, leaving families with tough choices to make. It might take some time to teach kids how to use phones as tools, not toys. Here are a few ways to get the message across.
Tell them not to use phones at school. Phones can be a distraction(干扰) from learning when used in the classroom. 36 In fact, 43% of teens admit that they often or sometimes use their phones as a way to avoid face-to-face communication with others.
Encourage them to contact long-distance relatives. 37 They’re also for keeping in touch with people who you may not get to talk to as often. If you have families who live in another city or state, ask your kids to strike up a conversation.
Lead by example. Setting an example is not only about how you use your phone, but also about how much you use it. When you feel bored and expect to glance over social media, fight it by taking a short walk. 38
Advise them not to use phones at the dinner table. For many families, the only time they truly get together is breaking bread at the end of a long day. 39 Asking your children to leave their phones far from the dinner table is a great way to solve the problem.
40 Sometimes, kids need a little push in order to make better choices about their phones. If they’re struggling with healthy habits, put some real-world events on the calendar. Good options include going to an amusement park, working together on a craft project or signing your kids up for sports.
A. Plan other forms of entertainment.
B. Prepare a dinner together with your children.
C. Screen time before bed reduces sleep quality.
D. They can also prevent students from connecting with one another.
E. So it is wise of parents to stress the importance of parent-child time.
F. Also, instead of reading a headline, why not pull out a book to read
G. Phones aren’t just for texting the best friend who lives two blocks away.

阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
It was the first week of Mia's middle school. The bell's ringing brought her out of her daydreaming. She nervously gathered her books, preparing to reach another classroom for the next new class.
Mia followed the other kids and rushed into the hallway. Others walked in groups, chatted, and laughed, using the break to socialize. Mia, instead, walked alone along the wall of the hallway, with her head down. She was a shy girl, afraid to speak in front of other kids, and didn't think others would like her.
Mia finally sat in Mr. Johnson's Language Arts class nervously. "Welcome to Language Arts,” said Mr. Johnson. He told jokes as he talked about English. Mia forgot to daydream and laughed along with the rest of the class. “We'll have some fun with language," he said. "Just wait and see.”
Fun was far beyond what Mia desired. She just wanted to be like other kids—running with friends in the hallway, laughing and joking between classes. Reminded of her pimply (长粉刺的)face, she felt hopeless and disappointed.
“Take out a piece of paper,” the teacher continued, when pointing at words on the blackboard. “Write for the next thirty minutes on this topic.” Mia began writing crazily as idea after idea fought for recognition in her head. The final result was a short story about a beautiful beach house. As she wrote, she could smell the salty air, hear the crashing waves and feel the pull of the sand beneath her feet. For just a moment, she forgot where she was. She was lost in the story.
“OK, pass your papers forward," said the teacher. “Let's see what we have.” For the rest of the class time, the teacher read each individual work aloud. Mia originally thought it would be awkward. However, she was gradually attracted by the excitement in the teacher's voice. "He's actually enjoying this," she thought. When the class would be soon over, there were still fifteen students' papers not read, including Mia's paper. Then, Mr. Johnson announced his decision, asking these students to read their work themselves in front of the class next class.
