IV. Major steps
Step 1. Greeting and Lead in (5 mins)
After greeting students, the teacher will show some pictures on the PPT and ask some questions:
What sports do you like
What sports events do you like to watch
Which sports would you like to try
Students will have a discussion,then invite some volunteers to share their answers. After that, the teacher will give corresponding comments on students’ answers and show the topic of this lesson.
(Justification: These pictures are vivid and interesting, which can arouse students' interest to the teaching activity. Meanwhile, it can also lead to the topic today naturally)
Step 2. Pre-listening (8 mins)
New knowledge teaching
With the help of actions, the teacher will guide students to understand the meaning and usage of the new words and sentences, including marathon,boxing,e-sports,badminton,stadium,host,gymnastics,champion,set am example,make it,work out ,lost heart and so on.
(2)Prediction
Ask students to predict the main idea of this listening material according to the pictures.
(Justification: Through above activities, students will be prepared to listen and can understand the material better)
Step 3. While-Listening (20 mins)
Extensive listening
Students will listen to the tape for the first time with the listening strategies to get the main idea of the listening material and check their prediction.
Intensive listening
Students will listen to the passage carefully again and do the following exercise.

④Listen and repeat
Students will listen to the audio and read after it. They should pay attention to the pronunciation and intonation.
(Justification: Through these two activities, students can master the main content of this listening material and through intensive listening, students will enhance their ability to get specific information.)
Step 4. Post-listening (7 mins)
Discussion
Students need to work in groups to discuss the following question: What events or activity would you like to invite your friends to Several minutes will be given. When time's up,some students will be invited to share their results. Then the teacher will comment on students' performance.
(Justification: Group activities provide students with the opportunity to apply what they have learned to practical use,improve their comprehensive language skills,boost their confidence in learning English,and enhance their sense of teamwork.)
Step 5. Summary and homework (5 mins)
Summary
Ask students to conclude the content of the lesson and summarize with the whole class.
