Writing a movie review
★Teaching Objectives
According to the new standard curriculum and the syllabus,and after studying the teachingmaterial,the teaching aims are as follows:
1.Knowledge objectives:
Summarize the structure of a film review.
2.Ability objectives:
Write a film review in present tense.
3.Emotion objective:
Make critical judgments on the criteria of good movie

★Teaching Procedures:(1 period)
Step 1.Lead-in (3 min)
1.T plays the video clip of the movie The Princess Diaries and asks if they have seen it before.
2.T ask Ss about how to recommend the movie to others and what should be included.
Purpose of the design: To train Ss to acquire knowledge through viewing and build connections towards what they have learned before.
Step 1.Starting out (3 min)
Read the movie review of The Princess Diaries and answer the questions.
(1).Do you like the movie ,
(2).Do you want to know more about it
Step 2.Pre-writing (14 min)
Activity 1

Purpose of the design:To train Ss to summarize the main idea of each part and conclude the structure of a review.
Step 3 Writing
Activity 5 Practice
1.Talk about the movie you have seen recently.
2.Write a movie review of Alice in Wonderland and complete the table.15'
Activity 6 Evaluation
Read carefully and make some comments on your classmates' writing.
Purpose of the design:To help Ss with a proper-organized and convincing writing by suggesting them using useful expressions and words.
Step 4.Evaluation (Group work;4 min)
(1)Teacher presents two of the students' writings and evaluate them in front of the class.
(2)Ask Ss to discuss with their group members and evaluate their works according to the criteria given to them.
(3)Give a sample writing to the class.
Purpose of the design: To enable Ss to know the criteria of a good composition and self check their own works by correcting their peer's works.
Step 5.Summary (1min)
Ask Ss to think about what steps they should take to do the writing.
Purpose of the design: To finalize the lesson and deepen Ss' memory of a good writing.
Step 6.Homework(1 min)
Ask Ss to finish and polish the writing and after class.
Purpose of the design: (1)To help Ss make improvement on writing skills; (2)Consolidate what's been learnt as well as what needs to improve.

★Prediction before Class
1.The-design of Pre-writing parts is suitable-for the students' level.They will have a satisfying input. Since there are so many preparations for the writing, students can finish the task in time.
2.The content of this period is rich. If time is not enough, I will give less time in the last evaluation part--revise and evaluate others' writing. I could ask students to finish the task after the class and I'll show the sample writing to them in the next period.
