It's a great honor for me, and I believe it will be a valuable experience for my future career. However, the interview is scheduled for the same time as our meeting, and I cannot reschedule it. I would appreciate it if you allow me to rearrange our meeting to next Sunday morning. If you are available that time, please let me know.I apologize for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your understanding. Looking forward to your reply.Yours,Li Hua读后续写One possible version:We tried to get it running, but it simply wouldn't start. With each unsuccessful attempt, our frustration mounted. The once-reliable engine now lay silent, leaving us adrift helplessly on the vast reservoir. Suddenly, out of nowhere, Mat pulled up alongside us and asked if he could be of assistance. His friendly smile reassured us almost immediately, easing our worry. I was amazed that of all the people on the reservoir, Mat would be the person to show up to give us aid. Gratefully accepting his kind offer, we secured our boat to his. Chatting and laughing all the way, we returned to the bay safe and sound and were ready for home.On our way home, I saw an old lady waving at our car by the roadside. Obviously, she was in need of help. Without thinking twice, I asked my father to pull over beside her, which my father did immediately. As we approached the lady, her face lit up with a glimmer of hope. She explained that her car had broken down, leaving her trapped on the way. We assured her that we would help. As the engine roared back to life, the old lady's gratitude overflowed. As we waved the grateful lady goodbye, my heart swelled with a newfound understanding of my father's mantra. What goes around really comes around. I finally had a chance to witness my father's mantra in action and follow in his footsteps.听力原文Text 1W: Can you tell me why this phone is more expensive than that one They have the same color and screen size.M: This one is the newest model. (15)M: That’s only a little place. When will they do it in the United States or China (15)W: I’m sure they are working on it now. (15)M: So how could it help someone like me W: Well, if you have a family history of a certain health problem, maybe it is in your genes. Perhaps a medicine could be given that would just help you.M: Wow! That would be cool. I can see how that would be very important. Let’s hope it is introduced soon. It sounds very promising. She listened so long while stirring dinner that I thought she understood for sure about what I wanted. The next day when I got home from school, I discovered a jacket the color of out-of-date guacamole (鳄梨色拉酱) on my bed. I threw my books on the bed and approached the jacket slowly, as if it were a stranger whose hand I had to shake. From the kitchen mother yelled that my jacket was in the closet. I closed the door to her voice, hoping the jacket on the bed wasn't for me. No luck. I wanted to cry because it was so ugly and so big that I knew I’d have to wear it a long time. I was a small kid, thin as a young tree, and it would be years before I’d have a new one.The next day I wore it to sixth grade. During the morning recess(课间休息) Frankie, the playground terrorist, pushed me to the ground and told me to stay there until recess was over. My best friend, Steve, ate an apple while looking at me, and the girls turned away to whisper on the monkey bars. Everybody saw me. Although they didn't say out loud, “Man, that's ugly,” I heard the buzz-buzz of gossip(闲言碎语)and even laughter that I knew was meant for me. So embarrassed, so hurt, I wouldn't even do my homework. I received Cs on quizzes.I wore that thing for three years. Although I blame my mother for her bad taste and her cheap ways, that jacket became my ugly brother who tagged along wherever I went. I showed the cracks to my mother and she said you would love that jacket.I ran outside, ready to climb the tree by the alley to think bad thoughts. Later, I was called to dinner: Steam fogged my mother's glasses. After the dinner, I went outside with my jacket across my arm because it was a cold sky. Soon I put on the jacket in a hurry, and that green ugly brother warmed my shoulder that day and ever since. Now, it has accompanied me for many years. Even though it is nothing to others, it is a treasure to me.28. Why did the writer think his mother understood what he wanted A. Because she got it from other people.B. Researchers collected information from about 800 children and young adults when they were 10, 12, 14, 16, and 18 years old. This included interviews about each child’s use of social media from year to year. The goal was to determine if using social media affects a young person’s overall social skills. To the team’s surprise, participants frequently using these platforms did not see their social skills reduced. “On the contrary, we find that people who use social media a lot spend more time with friends offline than those who tend to limit their screen time,” says Professor Silje Steinsbekk from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology’s Department of Psychology. However, social media can present challenges for children and teens. Although it offers a convenient and comfortable way for those with social anxiety to communicate, it can also lead to addiction and misuse. Studies have suggested that young people with anxiety are more easily affected by the negative effects of social media, which can worsen their symptoms and harm their mental health. Therefore, it is crucial for parents to monitor their children’s online activity and usage.Despite the risks to some, the team says their findings debunk the belief that social media causes young people to become socially isolated. In fact, their frequent use of social platforms may actually give them more opportunities to connect with old and new friends and set up chances to go out and socialize outdoors. What does the study focus on A. The impact of social media on young people.B. The importance of young people’s social skills.C. Reasons for people becoming isolated from the community.D. Ways to prevent children from becoming addicted to social media.33. Who may probably be more active in the real world according to the study A. A girl who seldom surfs the Internet. B. A boy who never makes friends online.C. A teenager who uses social media frequently.D. A new parent who is experiencing social anxiety.34. What can be inferred from paragraph 4 A. Negative emotions cause teens to misuse social media.B. Kids are more easily influenced by social media than adults.C. Online communication can help improve people’s mental health. D. Social media is a double-edged sword for young people with anxiety.35. What does the underlined word “debunk” in the last paragraph probably mean A. Explain. B. Contradict. C. Confirm. D. Ignore.第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分)阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。Critical reading is active reading. It involves more than just understanding what an author is saying. Critical reading involves questioning and evaluating what the author is saying and forming your own opinions. 36● Consider the context of what is written. You may be reading something that was written by an author from a different cultural context than yours. Or, you may be reading something written some time ago in a different time context than yours. In either case, you must recognize and take into account any differences between your values and attitudes and those represented by the author.● Question statements made by the author.37 Before accepting what is written, be certain that the author provides sufficient support for any statements made. Look for facts, examples, and statistics that provide support. Also, look to see if the author has integrated the work of authorities.● Analyze assumptions made by the author.Assumptions are whatever the author must believe is true in order to make statements. 38 This means you must read carefully in order to identify any assumptions. Once you identify an assumption, you must decide whether or not the assumption is valid.● 39 In doing this, be certain that the sources are reliable. For example, Einstein is a reliable source if the author is writing about landmark achievements in physics. 40 Einstein is not a relevant source when the subject is poetry. Finally, if the author is writing about a subject in its current state, be sure that the sources are current. For example, studies done by Einstein in the early 20th century may not be appropriate if the writer is discussing the current state of knowledge in physics.A. Evaluate the sources the author uses.B. Don't accept what is written at face value.C. Also be certain that the sources are relevant.D. Identify any possible prejudice the author has.E. Here are the things you should do to be a critical reader.F. The reasons why you should be a critical reader are as follows.G. In many cases, the author's assumptions are not directly stated.第三部分 语言运用(共两节,满分30分)第一节(共15小题;每小题1分,满分15分)阅读下面短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。 “Enjoy the little things in life, for one day you'll look back and realize they were the big things.” This 41 has stuck with me since the first time I read it. He was a firm believer in the mantra(信条): What goes around comes around. He believed that someday he might need help, and someone would return the favor. But I didn't quite agree with it.One weekend, my father and I took a trip to Flaming Gorge Reservoir(水库). We loved to fish at Flaming Gorge. We owned a boat with a cabin and the boat was about fifteen feet in length. We put our boat in at Sheep Creek Bay. Our goal was to go as far north as possible, spend the weekend in our boat, and fish until we had our limit.Heading toward the Wyoming side of the reservoir, we traveled some distance before we began to fish. Frankly, the fishing wasn't very good, but we loved being out on the boat together in such a beautiful place.Suddenly, we saw a man on the far shore waving at us. Immediately, my father fired up the motor and went toward the other side of the reservoir, where the man was still waving at us. When we arrived, I was amazed to see a beautiful big yacht(游艇) pulled onto the shore. The man introduced himself as Mat and then thanked us warmly for coming to his assistance. His battery was dead, and he wondered if we could help him. We did, and soon his big motor roared back to life. Mat and his family were very grateful. We lost an hour of fishing. Being an impatient teenager, I was a bit annoyed at the one-hour loss, but we were soon back out on the reservoir. The next day the fishing didn't improve. As a matter of fact, it was terrible, so we decided to call it quits and go back to the bay. We were about two miles from the bay when we found ourselves fighting a strong headwind that slowed our progress. The waves were kicking up, and suddenly our engine decided to quit.注意:1. 续写词数应为150个左右;2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。We tried to get it running, but it simply wouldn't start.
