读后续写:
With the bouquet in hand, Evan rushed home to celebrate Mom’s birthday. On seeing the gift, his mom was astonished. The bouquet was huge and looked expensive. Rather than being happy about it, she wondered where Evan had gotten it. “Evan Where did you get the money for this ” she asked, worried. With a big smile on his face, Evan told her the whole story and explained that he had once overheard Stacey’s conversations, learning she didn’t buy herself things to save money for him, so he made up his mind to give Mom a special gift for her birthday. Hearing the heartfelt words, Stacey was moved. She hugged him tightly, expressing her love and thanks.
Arranging the bouquet into the vase, they were surprised to discover an envelope with several hundred-dollar bills inside. They hurriedly returned to the flower shop to tell Mrs. Carter how they appreciated her kindness but couldn’t accept the money because of Stacey’s firm belief—one should stand on his own feet. Mrs. Carter’s eyes were filled with admiration for Stacey’s independence. She proposed a solution: Stacey could work at the flower shop whenever it was convenient. Stacey’ s face lit up with joy as she gladly accepted the offer. Stacey invited Mrs. Carter to dinner, not just as a birthday celebration but also as a way to express her gratitude to Mrs. Carter for everything she had done.
