Step 1 Greetings Teacher (T): Good morning/afternoon, class! Students (Ss): Good morning/afternoon, sir. Step 2 Lead in 1 Show 2 pictures about different kinds of parks. Ask Ss to recognize what kind of park they are. Q: What kind of park is it A city park or a theme park 2 Introduce the differences of the two parks ,especially theme parks. Step3 Reading 1. Fast reading Skimming. Look through the text quickly and find out the structure of the whole text. Answer questions:1). What’s the type of text 2).Who are the target readers 3). What is the writer's purpose of writing this text 2.Detailed reading Read the text quickly and fill in the chart on P32.---(Group work) Answer questions: According to the contents of the chart,what headers would you give for column A to D Summarize the key information of introducing a theme park. 3.Read para.3 carefully and circle key information according to the structure.Analyse the structure of introducing a theme park. Get the structure of introducing a park as a scaffold. Group work. Divide the whole class into 3 groups and ask them to read different parks and finish Ex.2 on P33. 6.Analyse the usage of adjectives,if-clauses,imperatives. 7.Get the more detailed structure of introducing a theme park as a scaffold. Add more useful related expressions. Step4 Writing 1 Show a task and help Ss analyse the structure and useful expressions. 2 Ss finish a draft within 8mins. 3 Exchange their drafts with partners and evaluate their according to the evaluation. 4 Ask some Ss to show their works. Step5 Summary and homework Arouse students’ interest and lead in the topic. Help Ss recognize the differences between parks and theme parks. Practice reading skills and make preparations for writing. Get students to have a general idea of the style, structure and the main contents. Help students conclude the structure of theme parks. Get students to appreciate the language and learn the function of adjectives,-ing form as subject and if-clauses. Give Ss a more detailed scaffold to finish their writing. Get students to put what they have learnt into practical use, practice their writing skills and assess their work. Improve students' ability of evaluation and improve their writing skills.
