Big Question: What is fun in a yard or on a farm 本单元是由1个日常对话,一个颂歌,一篇说明文,一个项目任务"设计你自己的农场"所组成。第一个对话主要介绍了Peter和Helen来到福星爷爷胡先生的菜园,参观了胡先生的菜园,并且询问了鹅,土豆、胡萝卜、西红柿、苹果树、兔子的信息,Peter和Helen了解到了基本的农作物。颂歌的内容主要是小男孩在森林里游玩,去了湖边，遇见了狐狸和狗,听了音乐，晒了太阳.说明文主要介绍了福星叔叔的农场,介绍了农场动物的种类,鸭子的数量,以及红房子。项目任务是设计自己的农场,要求设计出农场上拥有的动物和植物及数量和颜色,并且绘制农场的图画,最后写一段文字介绍农场。本单元的核心语言主要围绕参观农场以及农场的植物和动物展开,涉及参观农场时的语言,如询问动植物What's this/that What are these/those 动植物名称goose, rabbit, duck, tomato plants, apple plants.动植物的数量how many。本单元旨在培养学生认识常见的农作物和动物,了解自然,亲近自然,对自然有敬畏之心,另也需培养学生尊重劳动者，珍惜粮食的意义。
