Starting out&Understanding ideas板块（见教材Pl-P4)。Starting out板块呈现了一段视频，介绍了英国某中学的课程设置及学生的日常学习生活。Understanding ideas板块为一篇校园生活日记。日记以时间为线索，讲述了新生孟浩入学前、到校后，以及课堂上遇到的困难与挑战，并在老师和同学的帮助下逐步克服困难，融入学校，建立信心的经历和情绪、情感变化过程。
●Discourse analysis文本解读
My First Day at Senior High一文以第一人称口吻(I),按照时空顺序(Before going to school一Arriving at school一During the English class一After the English class)叙述了新生孟浩第一天校园生活的经历与感受，即孟浩入校前的兴奋与喜悦、到校后的胆怯与不安，以及在校园一隅偶遇长者，获得安慰，焦虑逐渐得到缓解。
在课堂上，英语老师与同学帮助他化解了滥尬。最后孟浩明白了新的校园生活充满了未知，建立了迎接新挑战的信心。借助分享孟浩第一天高中校园生活的经历和感受，激励新生勇敢面对新挑战，培养积极的学习态度，热爱学习，学会生活。
本日记语篇使用的典型语言有：
(1)表示时间先后顺序：After I.,the big day./When I arrived../When My English../Before we start./.
when he introduced himself/When we had all introduced ourselves ...
(2)描写人的情感或情绪：excited, curious, proud, happy, surprised,. nervous, embarrassed, relaxed, confident, n panic,with butterflies in one's stomach ...New here How true these words were!What !But what else What could I say to make a good first impression ....
●Teaching objectives教学目标
本课时结束，学生能够：
1.获取、梳理、概述孟浩高中生活第一天的所见、所闻、所感：
2.依据时间线索(time sequence),找出表达情绪的语言(words and expressions).;理解并挖掘孟浩的情绪情感变化，完成经历与情绪情感变化的信息结构图(idea organization);
3.运用所学语言，联系个人生活实际，谈论自己高中第一天的学习生活经历和感受；
4.用日记记录学习、生活，表达个人情感。

Activity 4 Read for experiences and feelings 1.Ss're required to find the expressions of time quickly, and check their findings with their deskmate. Suggested answers: After I ...the big day... Suggested answers: Before going to school Arriving at school During the English class After the English class 3.Ss're required to underline in the textbook what happened in Stage 1 and infer how Meng Hao felt.
