文本解读 主题内容:the theme is about some famous athletes who are honoured as the living legends and their sports spirit. 语篇类型:magazine 文本分析: ①As for the style, it belongs to the magazine; ②As for the structure, it consists of title, subtitle, leading paragraph and body; ③As for the content, it depicts two excellent athlete, including their identity, achievement, experience and quality and what should we learn from them. ④As for the thinking, it shows the criterion to recommend the living legends (masters in their sports, set good examples for others) 语言知识: ①some detailed information about Lang Ping and Michael Jordan; 语言技能: ②some reading skills, including prediction, skimming, scanning, careful reading; ③the writing devices: parallel structure, hyperbole and simile; 学习策略: ①integrating the information about athletes; ②cooperating with pairs and groups.
教学目标 ①All students can Knowg some detailed information about LP and MJ: their identity, achievement, experience , quality or spirit; ②Students can practice some reading skills: prediction, skimming, scanning, careful reading; ③Students can analyze the writing devices: parallel structure, hyperbole and simile; ④Students can think about the meaning of living legends, and the sports spirit we can learn from them; ⑤Students can hold an interview to talk and share the legends in Winter Olympic Games.

学情分析 优势:学生对相关体育内容的了解丰富,相关英语话题词汇掌握程度高,具有较高讨论热情,易于教学活动开展; 劣势:学生的思维虽发散,但仍相对表面,需要引导其深入思考。

教学活动设计
教学步骤 教学活动内容 设计意图
Lead-in (2min) Teacher: ask some simple questions about magazine and show the features of the commom magazine and elicit the text. Students: answer the questions from teacher and lead in the text. To stimulate students the existing knowledge, know the features of the common magazine and attract their attention for the text.
Pre-reading (prediction) (2min) Teacher: ask Ss to guess what the picture refers to and guess what may the title living legends talk about. Students: guess the picture and title. To make students perceive the picture and the title, and train their reading skill about prediction.
While-reading (skimming) (3min) Teacher: show students the reading task: ①to get the main content of the text ②to check the guessing; and ask them to read the text quickly with the task ③show the videos about LP and MJ. Students: summarize the main content of the text and check their prediction. Watch the vidoe. To make students check their guessings and get the main content of the text. To train their reading skill about skimming. To stress students’s visual feelings.
While-reading (scanning) 2min Teacher: ask students to read the text again to find out the identity of the two people. Students: complete the chart of identity. To make students get information about the identity and train their reading skill of scanning.
While-reading (scanning) 5min Teacher:①ask students to find out the achievements, and show them the way to search; ②explain the writing devices about parallel structure and hyperbole. Students:summarize the achievement the athletes abtained. To make students get information about the achievement and train their reading skill of scanning. To make studebts can analyze and use the writing devices.
While-reading (describing) 5min Teacher: ask students to describe LP’s experience of the 2015 world cup and MJ’s experience. Students: describ the experience by the tips given by teacher (Beginning,development, climax, ending) To make students get information about the experience. To train students how to describs a thing.
While-reading (careful reading) (6min) Teacher: ①ask students to work in pairs to think and discuss why LP can win and what can we learn from MJ. ②Back to the title and ask Ss to think what the title living legends means. Explain the simile device and ask Ss to rewrite the title with the simile Students: think deeeply from the text and discuss their opinions with their partner. Think the real meaning of the title. Rewrite the title with simile. To develop students thinking ability and communicating ability. To make students makter the simile device and creative ability.
Post-reading (interview) (10min) Teacher: set a real situation of the closing ceremony of the 2022 olympic winter games, ask students to make an interview (choosing your living legends)by roling as the reporter and spectators, and give them some tips. Students: prepare and show their interviwe about choosing the living legends based on the tips and teacher’s help. To develop students cooperative and creative ability. To give students opportunity to use what they learn in a real situation.
Summary (3min) Teacher: according the blackboard design and ppt to help Ss to reviwe and summarize today’s class. Students: positively recall today’ class with teaching’s guiding. To help students to consolidate what they learned.
