T presents some pictures showing ways of dealing with conflicts 2. T presents some key words Ss look at the pictures and expressions, read and learn the words 1. Help Ss recall the topic-related words and get Ss familiar with the new words and expressions which will be listened in the material.Pre-listening T shows 8 ways to resolve conflict, asking students to choose what they would use and which they wouldn’t use Ss use their background knowledge to make their choices 1. Activate Ss’ interest in the topic. 2. Help them relate to content in the interview.While-listening Activity 1 T asks Ss to listen to the radio program for the main idea and write down three common ways to deal with conflict. Ss listen to the first part of the interview and note down key information. Instruct Ss to get the main idea and learn three common ways of resolving conflicts.While-listening Activity 2 T shows Ss the chart and asks Ss to fill in the blanks. Ss listen to the first part of the interview again and take down more details Guide students to find out what the three common ways mean and their shortcomingsWhile-listening Activity 3 T asks Ss to listen to the first part of the interview for the third time and answer questions: (1)What are the two conflicts the interviewer mentions (2)What is the worst way of dealing with conflict according to Dr Maguire (3)What is the best way recommends 1. Ss listen again and note down more specific information of the text. 2. They make judgments and comparisons of the three common ways 3. Then Ss compare their answers with others. Guide Ss to obtain and analyze the detailed information in listening.While-listening Activity 4 1. T asks Ss to listen to the second part of the interview 2. T asks Ss to complete the suggestions given to deal with conflict. Ss try to take down complete sentences, showing the advice of the expert. Ss learn how to give suggestions, note down the suggestions based on their understanding.Post-listening T asks students to think about the conflict they have experienced, share their experience in pairs and give each other suggestions. 1. Ss think about their own experience and how they dealt with the conflict 2.They notice the proper and improper solutions during their past experience 3. They give each other suggestions according to what they have learned in the interview. 1. Ss will think of the talk critically and express their own ideas after discussion. 2. Students will be motivated to handle conflicts more scientifically and efficiently in the future.Review 1. T asks Ss to retell how to deal with conflict according to the structure and pictures Ss try to retell the interview based on the structure, pictures and their memory. 1. Ss learn to use the language in the text. 2. Ss consolidate what they have learned through active recallingQuiz 1. T shows Ss some suggestions and asks them to complete them with proper model verbs. 2. T asks Ss to read some situations and how the conflicts are resolved. Ask them to analyze the possible consequences, give comments or recommendations to deal with each situation. 1. Ss use proper model verbs to finish the suggestions. 2. Ss analyze how different conflicts are resolved, give their comments and recommendations. 1. Check Ss’ understanding of the interview. 2. Consolidate what they have learned by applying them into real situations.Self-evaluation T shows Ss the self-evaluation table and asks Ss to finish it. Ss reflect individually and tick the table. Ss assess their performance in the class and adjust their attitude and method in the next class.Homework T presents a poster of a school showing “High Five” strategies to resolve conflict in the school campus. Ask students to consider possible situations that can be applied and put them into use. Ss finish it after class. Ss review what they have learned.
