Greetings. 2. Play a game. T asks a student to use body language to describe the sports which are given her. Step II: Starting out T shows a video and some pictures about popular sports and asks the Ss to answer some questions. A student uses his/her body language to describe the sports which are given by the teacher, others guess. Ss answer some questions through the video and pictures. T asks Ss to read the title of passage and think about what is “A Game for the World” and why 2. To ask Ss how much do they know about football. Step IV: While-reading Task 1. T leads Ss to find out the topic sentence of each paragraph. Task 2. T leads Ss to find out the theme of the passage by asking the question: “Why is football so popular ” and let the Ss read the passage for reasons and express them in noun form. Then T asks Ss to find out the more examples behind the reasons mentioned in the passage. Task 3. T asks Ss to find the structure of the passage by analyzing the passage. Step V: Post-reading 1. T leads Ss to focus on the last sentence of the passage and think about what it means. 2. To explore Ss culture awareness through some questions. Step VI: Summary Help Ss summarize what they have learnt in this class. Step VI: Assignment T asks Ss to write a letter with the theme--Choose one sport and explain the reasons for its popularity. 1. Ss read the title and answer the questions about football. 2. Ss learn more think about football. Ss find out the topic sentence of each paragraph. Then read the passage for reasons and express them in noun form. Explore the evidence to support the reasons. To analyze the structure of the passage.
