英文教案：School Life in the UK
(牛津译林2020版 必修一 Extended Reading)
Teaching Objective:
1.To understand the main content of the article and master the characteristics of school life in the UK.
2.To learn and use the key vocabulary and sentence patterns in the article.
3.Cultivate students' intercultural awareness and oral expression ability.
Teaching Preparation:
1.Multimedia courseware (containing pictures and videos of British school life)
2.Group discussion cards and markers
3.Role-playing props (e.g. school uniforms, textbooks, etc., depending on conditions)
4.Vocabulary fill-in-the-blank exercises
Teaching steps:
I. Lead-in
Show pictures and videos of school life in the UK and ask students, "What do you know about school life in the UK "
Encourage students to share what they know about school life in the UK and introduce today's learning topic.
II. Fast Reading
① Ask students to skim through the article quickly and answer the following question: "What are the main sections of the article "
②Guide students to identify the structure of the article, including "Introduction, Timetable, Classes, Subjects, Homework, School lunch, Extracurricular Activities, and Conclusion. ".
III. In-depth Reading
①Group Reading: Students will be divided into 4 groups, each group is responsible for one part of the in-depth reading, the first group is responsible for Beginning and Conclusion, the second group is responsible for Timetable and Classes, the third group is responsible for Subjects and Homework, the fourth group is responsible for School lunch and Extracurricular Activities. The third group is responsible for Subjects and Homework, the fourth group is responsible for School lunch and Extracurricular Activities.
②Group Discussion: Each group of students will discuss the parts they have read and answer the following questions (take "Timetable" as an example):
What are the typical school hours in the UK
How do they differ from your school hours
What do you think of these differences
③Share and report: Each group elects a representative to report the results of the discussion to the class.
Ⅳ. Vocabulary and Sentence Patterns
①Select the key vocabulary and sentence patterns in the article and use the PPT to show and explain them.
Tie A to B = A be tied to B
Make progress = advances
Pay attention to details = focus on / concentrate on sth.
Push sb. to do sth. = urge sb. to do sth.

② Design vocabulary fill in the blanks and sentence transformation exercises, print them for students to complete and revise each other in class.
V. Role Play
Scenario Setting: Suppose the student is a British student who is introducing his school life to a foreign visitor.
Role Assignment: Each group selects one student to play the role of a British student and the other students to play the role of foreign tourists.
Role play: British students use what they have learned to introduce aspects of school life to foreign visitors. The foreign visitors can ask questions or give feedback.
Feedback and Evaluation: Teacher and other students give feedback and evaluation on the performance of the role-play.
VI. Extension and Discussion (Extension and Discussion)
Ask the question: "If you had a chance to study in a UK school, what would you like to experience "
Encourage students to express their views and ideas and have a class discussion.
VII. Summarize and Homework (Summary and Homework)
Summarize today's study and emphasize the characteristics of school life in the UK and the importance of cross-cultural communication.
Assign homework: let the students write a short essay describing their ideal school life and try to use the vocabulary and sentence patterns they have learned today.
