Introduction (5 minutes)Stimulate interest: Play a short inspirational video about "realizing potential", a TED talk or a documentary clip.Introduce the topic: Ask students: "Have you ever felt that you have an unseen ability or talent What is it " Lead students to share their personal experiences.Ⅱ.New Lesson Presentation (10 minutes)Rapid reading: let the students skim the text quickly to understand the general idea and mark the vocabulary and difficult points.Explanation of vocabulary: show the vocabulary and phrases through the multimedia courseware, and explain them in combination with the example sentences of the text.Read the text in sections: divide the text into several parts and guide the students to read and summarize the main idea of each paragraph.①Teacher modeling: The teacher reads a passage first as a model and asks some questions to guide students to focus on the main content and key points of the passage. For example, "What is the main idea of this paragraph " or "What are the key points mentioned in this paragraph " and explain how to find out the main idea and key information of the paragraph.②Students' independent reading: read the assigned paragraphs independently according to the teacher's guidance. In the process of reading, students can mark the difficult sentences or important information, record the theme of the paragraph, key points, important information or their own feelings.III. Text Analysis (10 minutes)Thinking map construction: Use multimedia courseware to show the thinking map of the text structure and guide students to understand the overall framework of the text.Group discussion: Students discuss in groups the ideas and cases about realizing potential mentioned in the text and think about what these cases tell them.Reporting and exchanging: Each group selects a representative to report the results of the discussion, and other groups comment and supplement.IV.
