Xi announces China will host second China-Arab States Summit in 2026. More young Arabs studying Chinese as appeal spreads. Taiwan celebrities show support for reunification. Chinese ink masterpieces fetching millions at Beijing auction. Introduce the headline of the news report for this lesson "Teen faints after skipping meals" and ask Ss what do they feel about the headline and after that the teacher uses the headline to ask some questions like “Who’s the teen ” 、”Why faints ”… Students are free to answer the question and summarize the features of the headlines given. Students read the headline of the news report and feel curious about what the news is about. 用简单的问题开始课堂,帮助学生快速回到上课的状态。 向学生呈现一些最新的新闻并且选择一些能够反应出中国传统文化和中国的进步的新闻让学生增加民族自豪感。 通过几个新闻标题,学生能够掌握新闻标题的特点并且借此来帮助学生提起对本节课的新闻标题的兴趣。Step Two: While-reading1(News) Activity 1: Fast reading Before Ss skimming the text, give them the tips on reading a news report. Ss complete the table of paragraph division. Activity 2: Detailed reading Para1: Analyze the lead to help Ss grasp the five elements of a lead including “who what where when why”. Para2-4: Make Ss take themselves as journalists to get more information about the news by interviewing some related people. Take Ss to interview Jennifer's classmates, parents, doctor, and best friends in the order of “before hospital”, “inside hospital” and “outside hospital”. Before hospital (Para2): Ss read para2 and listen to what Jennifer's classmate said. Then answer the question “Why was Jennifer rushed to hospital ” Inside hospital (Para3): Ss read para3 and listen to what the doctor and parents said. And Ss answer the questions “why did she faint ” and “why did she have low blood sugar ” Outside hospital (para4): Read para4 and listen to what Gennifer's classmates and best friend said. And answer questions “why did she skip meals” and “What happened to Jennifer after skipping breakfast for the last few months ” Activity3: Critical thinking What do you think about Jennifer’s way to lose weight Is there any case about losing weight in unhealthy ways Is this phenomenon common around you After interviewing some related people, what's your comment on this event or how do you feel about this event Activity 1 Ss skim the text according to the tips and divide the text into three parts. Activity 2 Ss read para1 and grasp the knowledge of the five elements in the lead. Take themselves as journalists to interview related people in the corresponding order. Read para2 and listen to answer the question. Read para3 and listen to answer the question. Read para4 and listen to answer the question. Critical thinking: Can you think of any other causes of this phenomenon (If Ss answer that they care too much about other’s view, then ask ss “do they care about what other people look like”.) After Ss reading para5, let them finish the table according to the survey. Activity 2 Ask Ss to read Para5 and Para6 to underline the sentences cited from expects to find out the expert’s attitude towards the survey. Answer the expert’s different views on weight-loss for those who are slightly overweight and who are dangerously overweight. Activity3: Ask Ss to read para7 to find out the two suggestions the expert gives and why does she suggest so. Activity 1 Read para5 to get the author’s attitude and the reason why he thought the phenomenon is common. Think of other causes of the phenomenon according to Ss’s practical life. Activity 2 Read para5 and para6 to find the expert’s attitude and summarize the different views on different Ss. Activity3 Read para7 to get the two suggestions given by the expert and find out why she suggests so. 学生在阅读5-7段落之前,已经表明了自己对新闻的态度和身边的人或者自己减肥的思考,所以在阅读作者的观点的时候会带着批判的或者支持的态度来阅读文章,这样有利于学生培养自主思考的能力。 青少年减肥的原因有很多,还有一部分来自过度关注他人的看法,所以让学生回答这个问题,并且继续追问学生,他们自己在日常生活中关注自己,还是关注他人,答案必定是关注自己,告诉学生人生没有那么多观众,做自己就行。 让学生回答调查的数据和内容能帮助学生提高信息检索的能力,并且让学生对段落的构成有清晰的认识(第五段涉及作者的观点,数据和专家的观点。学生在阅读的时候容易混乱。) 让学生将专家的观点划出来有利于学生对段落结构有清晰的认识,并且更清楚地找出专家的观点。 第七段主要涉及专家对青少年的建议。这两个建议后面都有原因能很好地将这一段划分为两个部分,不仅能让学生看清段落组成还能帮助学生在以后的写作或者阅读中也能清晰的写明原因。Step Four: Post-reading Activity1: Write a lead and a headline for a news report Activity2: Appreciation Appreciate the sentence“Beauty is being the best possible version of yourself on the inside and out.” Activity1: Students use the lead of the report to get information about “who、what、when、where、why” of the news and in return to write a lead. Activity2 Understand the sentence and try to accept what they look like. 学生利用阅读lead和标题时学习到的技能,根据who what when where why和新闻标题要简洁明了和吸引人的特点来为文章写导语和标题,提升学生学以致用的能力。 通过赏析句子的方式让学生明白真正的美来自内心。AssignmentsComplete the exercise on page47 B1; Polish up the lead and the headline and share it with us next class;Blackboard DesignTeaching Reflection读后活动和课上讲的内容稍微有些割裂,因为lead和headline的写法在上课的前几分钟就已经讲了,最后让学生写,学生会忘记,但是如果加在前面又会让学生脱离原来已经创造好的情境和语境中。 我将本篇文章分成两个部分,前一部分是新闻,后面部分是作者的态度和专家建议。没有两个统筹一起讲,反而在两个部分的中间加入思考的问题。我个人觉得这种方式有利于学生养成自主思考的能力,因为青少年对减肥这个话题还是比较敏感的,然后再让学生带着自己的观点去阅读作者的观点。 在文章里我加入了很多why,每当学生完成一个答案就要回答why,我觉得这样有利于学生深入思考理解文章,而不是仅仅停留在文章内容表面。 展开更多...... 收起↑ 资源预览
