1. privilege n. 优惠待遇;特权
(1)It's a privilege to do sth./of doing sth. 有幸做某事
have the privilege to do sth./of doing sth. 有做某事的特权
(2)privileged adj. 享有特权的;荣幸的;幸运的
be privileged to do sth. 做某事是荣幸的

(1)deserve to do sth. 应该做……;值得做……
(2)deserve to be done=deserve doing... 值得被做
deserve consideration/attention/a rest 值得考虑/注意/应该休息
(3)deserved adj. 应得的;该受的
[关注细节] “deserve doing”结构是主动形式表示被动含义,它相当于deserve to be done。与deserve用法类似的词还有:need, want, require。

“介词+关系副词”引导的定语从句
[教材原句] Another teacher and I walked for two and a half hours to get there—first, up a mountain from where we had fantastic views, and then down a shaded path to the valley below.我和另一个老师步行了两个半小时才到达那里——先是爬上了一座山,从那里看到了奇妙的景色,然后沿着一条阴暗的小路来到下面的山谷。
(1)“from where”引导的定语从句所描述的地点较为具体,而且where常常指代前面的介词短语。
(2)“where”或“from which”引导的定语从句所描述的地点较为模糊。
(3)“since/by when”引导的定语从句所描述的时间也较为具体。
