Language points
一、连词的定义
连词是一种虚词,不能独立充当句子成分,只起连接词与词、短语与短语以及句子与句子的作用。连词按其作用可分为并列连词和从属连词。并列连词用来连接并列关系的词、短语或句子,从属连词用来引导一个从句。
二、并列连词
并列连词有and、or、but、yet、so、for、both...and...、either...or...、neither...nor...、not only...but also...等。
1. and的用法
A and B表示“A和B”,在否定句中不用and,而要用or I bought a pen and a book.
我买了一支钢笔和一本书。
He can't read or write.
他不会读书和写字。
在“祈使句,and+简单句(一般将来时)”句型中,and有“那么”之意 Run a little faster, and you will be the first.
跑快一点,那么你就是第一。
and连接两个相同的词,表示“持续,重复” I waited for hours and hours.
我等了一个又一个小时。
2. or的用法
A or B表示“A或B” You can go there by bus or on foot.
你可以坐公共汽车或步行去那儿。
在“祈使句,or+简单句”句型中,or有“否则”之意 Hurry up, or we can't catch up with the first bus.快点儿,否则我们赶不上第一班公共汽车。
3. but和yet的用法
but意为“但是” My uncle is old, but he looks very strong and healthy.
我叔叔年龄很大,但是他看起来很强壮、很健康。
not A but B表示“不是A而是B” This is not my bike but his bike.
这不是我的自行车,而是他的自行车。
和but一样,yet也主要用于表示转折关系,意为“但是” The tongue is not steel, yet it cuts.
舌虽非钢,却可杀人。
