Li Ming: Hi Danny! How are you How was your first day of Grade 8
Danny: Great! I was happy to see my classmates after such a long holiday.
I have two new classmates this term. One is Sandra and the other is
Mary. We also have a new English teacher. Her name is Ms. Cox.
Li Ming: That’s exciting! You always like to make new friends. Where are
Sandra and Mary from
Danny: I don’t know. I wanted to talk to Sandra, but I didn’t know how to
begin.
Li Ming: Well, you can introduce yourself to her. You can also ask her
questions.
Danny: Good idea, Li Ming! Thank you. What about you How is Grade 8
for you
Li Ming: Good. It’s almost the same as Grade 7. We have a new subject
this term—physics. It looks interesting. Tomorrow we will make a class
picture, but I don’t have any good recent pictures of myself.
Danny: You have a lot of good pictures, Li Ming. We took many on the
Silk Road. I like the one of you on the camel.
Li Ming: Yes. I like those pictures, too. I will look for one. See you later!
Danny: See you! Good luck!

be back意为“回来”，其近义词组为：get/come/go back。

你八年级的第一天过得怎么样？
first为形容词，意为“第一”。序数词前面要加定冠词the，但当
序数词前有物主代词时需去掉the。

3. I was happy to see my classmates after such a long holiday.
在这么长的假期之后，我很高兴见到我的同学们。
such意为“这样的(地)，如此的(地)”，即可作形容词，也可作
副词。其常见用法为：①such+形容词+不可数名词/可数名词的
复数形式；②such+a/an+ 形容词+可数名词的单数形式。
※ It’s such a comfortable bed.
这床真舒服。
4. One is Sandra and the other is Mary.
一个是桑德拉，另一个是玛丽。
One... and the other...意为“一个……，另一个……”。
※ One cat is black and white, the other solid black.
一只猫是黑白花色的，另一只猫是纯黑色的。
辨析：the other, the others, other, others与another
the other 两者中另一个，特指。
the others 三个或三个以上的人或物中除去已知部分“余下的全部”，特指。
other 作形容词讲时，表示其他的。
others 三个或三个以上的人或物中除去已知部分后“余下部分中的某一些”，非特指。
another “又一，再一”，非特指。
5. You always like to make new friends.
你总是喜欢结交新朋友。
make friends意为“交朋友”，常与with搭配。
※ I want to make friends with you.
我想和你交个朋友。
6. I wanted to talk to Sandra, but I didn’t know how to begin.
我想和桑德拉谈谈，但我不知道该怎么开口。
how to begin为“特殊疑问词+不定式”结构, 特殊疑问词可以
是what, which 或者 when, where, how 等, 此结构能在句中作
宾语、主语或者表语。
※ I don’t know what to do next.
我不知道接着该做什么了。
7. Well, you can introduce yourself to her.
嗯，你可以向她做个自我介绍。
“ introduce...to... ”意为“把……介绍给……”。
※ Tim, may I introduce you to my uncle’s secretary, Mary Waller

introduce的其他用法：
① introduce oneself 自我介绍
② introduce...into... 把……引进……；传入……
③ introduction 介绍
8. It’s almost the same as Grade 7.
和七年级差不多。
be the same as...意为“和……一样”，same 前面必须加the，
其反义短语为： be different from...，意为“与……不同”。
※ They began to want their father to be the same as other daddies.
他们开始想要自己的爸爸和别人的爸爸一样。
※ The future will be different from the past.
未来并不同于以往。
9. I like the one of you on the camel.
我喜欢你骑骆驼的那张。
one作代词时意为“一个(人或物)”。
※ One tries one’s best.
一个人尽其所能。
辨析：it, one和that
it 指的是上文提到的同一事物。
one 指的是上文提到的同一类事物中的一个，即同类不同物。one为泛指，相当于a/an+名词。one 只能代替可数名词单数，代替可数名词复数时用ones。
that 指代同名异物。that为特指，相当于the+名词。that既可以代替不可数名词也可以代替可数名词单数，代替可数名词复数时用those。
