Therefore,this class is designed for students to finish a project in a group,based on what they have learned in this unit.In the project part of unit 4,students are asked to report on people who persevere.The previous parts of this unit are about the stories on what adversities the crew on“Endurance”faced when the ship was crushed in the Antarctic,how them overcame the difficulties and persisted,and how they survived in the end.Besides,the workbook of this unit introduces students the excerpt of the story —The Old Man and Sea,and an introduction to Fan Zhongyan,who was also known for his perseverance and ambition.All of them provide a solid foundation for the project.学情分析Students have learned the story of“Endurance”,been inspired by the crew's spirits and also mastered some words and expressions of this unit.Plus,in previous units,they have learned some reading passages about great people and accumulated some expressions to describe a person.Therefore,they are familiar with the topic and relatively well-prepared for this class.But according to their performance in English class,some of them still lack the spirits of cooperation and do not know how to write a persevering person precisely.So based on the real set-up project,this class is intended to teach students how to write a report on people who persevere,complete the project as a group and help them reflect on their own character,thus improving their writing skills and strengthening their bond.教 学 目 标By the end of this class,Ss will be able to: 1.know how to sort out the information of a person;2.learnhow to make a good report,3.grasp how to polish a report on a person;4.reflect on their own character.教学内容教学重点: 1.Ss make an outline by sorting out the information ofa persevering person. 2.Ss know how to make a good report on people who persevere,based on a well-organized structure and authentic language. 3.Ss evaluate their reports and polish them according to the evaluation form.4. 教学难点: 1.Ss write a report that is informative,well-organized and impressive. 2.Ss reflect on their own qualities after reporting these persevering people.教学过程Activity 1 Setting up the project Introduce Ss to a real project and invite them to finish it as a group. The project is:the Youth Column of English Weekly in our school,themed “Adversity &Courage”next week,is collecting three reports on people who persevere.You're going to contribute to it as a group. Tip 2:Authentic language makes it impressive.3.Guide Ss to observe the layout of the report on Fan Zhongyan from the workbook to figure out how to make a report on a persevering person eye-catching. Tip 3:Pictures,quotations and a reasonable layout can make it eye-catching. Activity 7 Write out your report Ask Ss to write down the report about the person you've researched based on the outlines and remind them of the three tips introduced in this class.
