The list for the sixth-grade basketball team was announced (公布) online. I was a little worried because I knew how much my 12-year-old son wanted to join the team.
I read the list of 13 names for a few minutes. Finally, I had to tell myself that my son wasn't among the players who were allowed to continue playing. I felt sad. I wished it would be about success. Like every parent, I love to say, “You did it!”

Bing Dwen Dwen, the cute mascot (吉祥物) of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, has been selling like hotcakes.
The new Olympic mascot serves as an ambassador (大使) for winter sports, bringing joy to those who take part in and watch the Olympic Winter Games. In Chinese, “Bing” has several meanings. And as for the mascot, “Bing” means ice, and “Dwen Dwen” sounds like a child's name. The mascot is a symbol of strength and willpower (意志力) of athletes. It also helps to show the Olympic spirit.
Bing Dwen Dwen wears a full-body “shell” (外壳) made out of ice, which looks like an astronaut suit. The shell also helps the panda to skate, snowboard and ski along with the Olympic athletes. The bright colours of the halo (光环) around its face are a representation of the latest advanced technologies of the ice and snow sport tracks (跑道) at the Games, while the heart on its left palm (掌部) shows China's kindness for athletes and audiences at the Winter Olympics.
The design for Bing Dwen Dwen was chosen from over 5,800 works from China and 35 countries around the world as part of a global competition made by the Beijing 2022 Organising Committee. The designs were reviewed (评审) by Chinese and international experts, with the final choices made by teams from the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts and Jilin University of the Arts.

When most people imagine a classroom, they think of older people teaching younger ones. But when it comes to learning about high-technology devices (高科技设备), the opposite can often be true. That is what is happening through a programme in Maryland. The 50+Center gives free technology classes to people aged 50 and older.　　　
Myra Stafford is more than 70 years old. She takes the class to learn how to use her iPad. Eleven-year-old Peter teaches Ms. Stafford. He says that patience is very important when working with old people. “You have to be really, really patient, because some of them may not know as well as others, so you must be really patient.”
Marian is the director of the 50+ Center. She added the technology classes last year because the center received some iPads from local people. Since then, about 100 old people took the classes to learn how to use them. The technology classes are important for them to connect with the world around them. As an English saying goes, honesty is the best policy. To be honest is also one of Chinese traditional virtues. It's really important for us to be honest in our daily life.
As for me, I consider honesty to be one of the most important rules that should be followed. I never tell a lie to others, no matter what happens.
