At just seven years old, Angelina Tsuboi discovered her passion for innovation. It all began with a simple game she programmed in her Los Angeles public school’s Grade 2class. Today , at18, the Grade 12 student’s initial curiosity has evolved into a deep-seated desire to use technology to decode (解码) real-world problems.
In 2021, she co-developed Megaphone, one of her first apps, to tackle unanswered post-class questions and poor communication about events and announcements. Her problem-solving ability kept building from there.
When she took online CPR classes at the start of the pandemic, she figured it couldn’t be just her who was struggling with the steps. So she created an app called CPR Buddy ― a winner in the 2022 Apple Swift Challenge ― which guides users through CPR using vibrations (震动) to regulate breath. After winning the award, Angelina presented her work to Apple CEO Tim Cook, a highlight in her young career, but one she didn’t lose her cool over. “There’s no point putting people on a pedestal (神坛),” she says.
The next year, Angelina built an app called Lilac, designed to assist nonEnglish-speaking single parents with resources for housing, job opportunities and translation support. She was inspired by her own experiences as a child of a single mother who immigrated to the US.
When Angelina decided to pursue pilot training at the age of 16, she was struck by how difficult it was to find financial support, which encouraged her to create yet another app, Pilot Fast Track, which helps those longing to be pilots find scholarships for flight training.
Looking to the future, besides applying to colleges with great labs, Angelina is exploring the field of aerospace cybersecurity and mechatronics ― combining computer science, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering.
“There’s not enough optimism in the world,“ she says. “I have also been in situations in my life where I’ve lost a lot of hope. But in the end, it is a mindset, and there are ways in any situation you’re in to make it somewhat better.”
24.What is Angelina’s pursuit
A.To design games for kids.
B.To stimulate teen’s curiosity.
C.To address problems through technology.
D.To find innovative approaches to digital challenges.
25.What can we learn about Angelina from Paragraph 3
A.She couldn’t breathe regularly. B.She was inspired by celebrities.

26.What was the primary goal of developing Pilot Fast Track
A.To direct pilots’ career paths.
B.To help to-be pilots find funds.
C.To pair future pilots with airlines.
D.To evaluate pilot training schools.
27.What might be the best title
A.Breaking the code B.Bearing growing pains
C.Facing life as it is D.Following role models

While conquering the world’s swimming pools in the late 1990s and the 2000s, Amanda Beard had already included breathing exercises in her training. Several years after the end of her athletic career, she discovered walking meditation. Today the seven-time US Olympic medalist practices walking meditation in nature, around the house, or while walking the dog. It’s a daily practice with the focused mindfulness of meditation that contributes positively to every aspect of her life, she says.
You don’t need equipment or a designated space to start. The idea of a walking meditation is to pay attention to the way your body feels, noticing things like the sky, trees, tuning into all of your senses. This means you can meditate “on the go” in the countryside, in the city, in your backyard, and virtually anywhere. A simple, 10-minute walking meditation for beginners requires that you just start at ease. Consider what you hear, smell and see. Think about how your feet touch the ground. Fully focus on these feelings.
A report in Health Promotion Perspectives also found that walking meditation can improve your balance, adjust your heart rate, boost your mental focus, and help you battle anxiety and depression. “The benefits of meditation are many,” says Dr. Schramm, a board-certified family physician and meditation teacher. “When we do this over and over again, we train the brain to focus on only one thing at a time and this increases both our blood flow and actual neuronal (神经元) changes within our brains.”
“The magic of meditation is to be able to help you connect with yourself; meditation shouldn’t feel a certain way,” says Tara Stiles, a yoga and wellness expert. It’s a common mistake in meditation: People fear a wandering mind. “A wandering mind is completely normal,” Stiles says. “Even experienced meditators aren’t sitting there never having a thought, but when they have the thought they choose to guide themselves back to their breath instead of getting frustrated.
28.What is walking meditation
A.Plain walking. B.Mindful walking.
C.A competitive sport. D.Deep thought while stationary.
29.Which of the following is recommended to a beginner starting walking meditation

31.What is Tara Stiles’ attitude towards distractions
A.Carefree. B.Frustrated.

Teachers across America are struggling to decide whether to view artificial intelligence (AI) tools like ChatGPT as friends or enemies in the classroom. Our study on whether AI affects student creativity shows that the answer isn’t always simple.
In the study, we asked college students to brainstorm — without technology — all the ways a paper clip can be used. A month later, we asked them to do the same, but using ChatGPT. We found that AI can be a useful brainstorming tool, quickly generating ideas that can spark creative exploration. But there are also potential negative effects on students’ creative thinking skills and self-confidence. While students reported that it was helpful to “have another brain”, they also felt that using AI was “the easy way out” and didn’t allow them to think on their own.
The results call for a thoughtful approach to using AI in classrooms and striking a balance that inspires students’ creativity while utilizing AI’s capabilities. The good news is that the students in our study generated more diverse and detailed ideas when using AI. They found that AI was useful for kick-starting brainstorming sessions.
When it comes to brainstorming with AI, some students voiced concerns about over-reliance on the technology, fearing it might hurt their own thoughts and, consequently, confidence in their creative abilities. Some students reported a “fixation of the mind”, meaning that once they saw the AI’s ideas, they had a hard time coming up with their own. Some students also questioned the originality of ideas generated by AI. Our research noted that while using ChatGPT improved students’ creative output individually, the AI’s ideas tended to be repetitive overall.
The study results indicate that allowing students to practice creativity independently first will strengthen their belief in themselves and their abilities. Once they complete this, AI can be useful in furthering their learning, much like teaching long division to students before introducing a calculator. That’s to say, teaching students to be creative thinkers rather than rely on AI for answers is the key to answering the question mentioned above.
32.Why were the students required to use ChatGPT after a month in the study
A.To clarify a concept. B.To make a comparison.
C.To explain a definition. D.To present an argument.
33.What does the underlined word “utilizing” in paragraph 3 mean
A.Learning. B.Designing.
C.Taking advantage of. D.Having control of.
34.What does paragraph 4 focus on concerning AI
A.Its negative aspects. B.Its limited creativity.
C.Its reliable originality. D.Its potential development.
35.What does the author intend to tell us in the last paragraph
A.The future of AI use is uncertain. B.Traditional teaching still has a place.
C.AI’s capabilities are unquestionable. D.Human creativity should come first.

Betty and Kate were two sisters. Kate was so stuck with her sister Betty that she always followed her elder sister everywhere. For example, when Betty was painting, she would paint by her side. Every time, Betty looked at her angrily and said, “Couldn’t you find your own thing to do ” This time, it was Kate’s first week when she learnt gymnastics, while Betty had done gymnastics for the past two years.
Betty sat on the gym floor, waiting for her turn to do somersaults (翻筋斗). She frowned (皱眉头) at her little sister across the room and thought why Kate couldn’t always find her own thing to do “Betty, you’re up!” called Betty’s instructor, Miss Carol. Betty came over and pushed off with her legs and straightened her arms. She did one, two, three somersaults. Miss Carol clapped and said, “Perfect!”
Betty noticed that Kate had stepped away from the younger group to watch Betty’s somersaults. “Kate!” called Kate’s instructor, Miss Brown, from across the room. Kate didn’t seem to hear her. Not until she was called three times did she run back to her group. “Your turn to do somersaults.” Miss Brown put an arm around her. Kate walked to the mat with her face turning red like a tomato. She bent down to start a somersault. When she rolled, she fell heavily on the mat. Kids laughed in surprise at the noise.
Kate stood uncomfortably and then ran towards the restroom. She was gone from the gym. After telling Miss Carol where she was going, Betty hurried to the restroom. She found Kate crying hard. Betty put an arm around her sister. Seeing Betty, Kate cried even harder. Kate sniffed, “I don’t want to do gymnastics any more.” Kate wiped away the tears with the back of her hand. W: Mr. Muller, I would be curious to know what gave you the idea of starting a country music restaurant.
M: Actually, my family has been in the restaurant business ever since my great-grandfather. He cooked great meals, which made his restaurant very popular. But it didn’t have much to do with music until my father’s days, who often invited local artists to sing in the restaurant. That practice was common in restaurants at that time and the music style was usually Jazz. Some diners would leave their seats and join the artists in singing songs
W: Was it you who changed the style of the music
M: You said it. Once, I invited Julie to sing in the restaurant and her song, Blowing in the Wind, touched me so deeply that I decided to make country music a special part of my restaurant.

M: It can’t be called a trip around the world. I just want to take a trip to South America. Do you have any suggestions?
W: I think the best suggestion should be for you to stay in hostels.
M: I know that is a great way to save money.
W: It surely is. Staying in a hostel is a lot cheaper than staying in a hotel. When I visited Peru, I stayed in a hostel in Ica for $3.5 a night! It was a 24-bed dormitory room. But it was much cheaper than the typical hotels there, which cost anywhere from 15 to $100.
M: I like the price, but I don’t know what it will be like to share a room with 23 people.
W: Some people may not like that. But to me, it is another reason I choose to stay in hostels. In my previous experiences, I have met quite several like-minded travelers.
M: Is that the best part of hostels for you
W: To me, the best part is that most hostels are equipped with a full kitchen, allowing me to cook my own meals. And if you are lucky, you might even meet other travelers that are willing to share the meal they have made.

But there are also potential negative effects on students’ creative thinking skills and self-confidence.”(在这项研究中,我们要求大学生在没有技术的情况下进行头脑风暴,思考回形针的所有使用方法。

The good news is that the students in our study generated more diverse and detailed ideas when using AI.”(研究结果要求在课堂上使用人工智能,并在激发学生创造力和utilizing人工智能能力之间取得平衡。

Some students reported a “fixation of the mind”, meaning that once they saw the AI’s ideas, they had a hard time coming up with their own. Some students also questioned the originality of ideas generated by AI. Our research noted that while using ChatGPT improved students’ creative output individually, the AI’s ideas tended to be repetitive overall.”(当谈到与人工智能进行头脑风暴时,一些学生表达了对过度依赖技术的担忧,担心这可能会损害他们自己的想法,从而损害他们对自己创造能力的信心。 故选A项。
根据最后一段第一句“The study results indicate that allowing students to practice creativity independently first will strengthen their belief in themselves and their abilities.”(研究结果表明,首先让学生独立实践创造力,可以增强他们对自己的信心和能力。)及最后一句“That’s to say, teaching students to be creative thinkers rather than rely on AI for answers is the key to answering the question mentioned above.”(也就是说,教育学生成为创造性的思考者,而不是依靠人工智能来获得答案,这是回答上述问题的关键。)

66.Dear Sir or Madam,
I am Li Hua, a customer of your online store. I am writing to make a complaint about the English dictionary I purchased in your online store Kentier three days ago.
I was very glad to receive it yesterday. However, when I opened the package, I was sorry to find something wrong with it. Apart from the broken cover, to my displeasure, there are some dirty spots on it due to the poor packaging and the process of delivery. In addition, some pages are missing, which makes it impossible to refer to some words.
Such is the reputation of your store that I suppose it’s no more than a careless mistake. It will be satisfying enough for you to change it for a new one and post it to me as soon as possible. If this requirement can’t be met, a refund is acceptable to me. And I am confident that you can live up to the expectation of your customers.
Yours sincerely
Li Hua

67.One possible version:
Betty believed that she could persuade her sister to return to the training. She knew how excited Kate had been about joining in gymnastics. Every time Kate watched Betty doing somersaults at the gym, the big toothy smile was always on her face. So Betty decided to cheer her up. Casting a comforting smile at Kate, she helped her sister wipe out tears from her cheeks. “You’re better at somersaults than I was on my first day of gymnastics,” Betty explained how embarrassing her first somersault was. A smile took hold of Kate when the amusing scene came to her.
Betty realized it was so good a chance to encourage her sister. Seeing a smile on Kate’s face, Betty said, “What about giving it another try ” Kate smiled a little more and made up her mind that she would not be a coward. Kate said, “OK!” Picking up all her courage, Kate walked back into the gym, where she did much practice and finally succeeded in doing somersaults perfectly under the guidance of Miss Brown. Nobody could feel more excited than her then. A bright smile spread across the little girl’s face and gratitude to her elder sister filled her heart.
