While tea may have its origins in Asia, now it has found its way into their food culture and traditions in many countries. It is a special way of connecting people all over the world in different ways and ceremonies. That finally all results in a group of people sitting together and enjoying a cup of tea.
Chinese tea culture
Since China is considered as the birthplace of tea, it is no wonder that Chinese tea culture is rich in history and tradition. Today, Chinese tea continues to be used in Chinese medicine and is commonly used on both formal and informal occasions either for personal enjoyment or as a Chinese cultural tradition.

A hot cup of Earl Grey tea often serves with a little milk and a biscuit in the afternoon as a pick-me-up for the day, which makes you feel better and more energetic. Even though tea may not be native to England, this British tea tradition is still going strong today.
Moroccan tea culture
When you visit Morocco, it is hard to miss the outstanding tea culture that is such a special way to welcome guests. Before any gathering, a pot of mint(薄荷)tea is always prepared and served among the host and guests. This is an expression of Moroccan tradition and kindness, which should always be accepted by guests as a sign of appreciation and respect to the host.

Each year people are crazy about different ceremonies. Many graduation ceremonies look special and different. But for Melody, it looked so unique because of the classmate who graduated alongside her — her grandmother, 75-year-old Pat Ormond. They both went to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) and graduated together.
Pat took her first college class 42 years ago. After one semester, she dropped out to move to Chattanooga, where she spent the next several decades working as an accountant and raising a family. While she did take an occasional class at UTC, she says her family continued to encourage her to go back to finish her degree, especially after she retired. She agreed when her granddaughter decided to move to study psychology at UTC after a year at Berea College. They both entered UTC with enough college credits to make graduating together a possibility.
Pat and Melody graduated on November 20 as part of UTC’s 2020 class. The achievement has also made Pat somewhat of a celebrity.
“We are so proud to have graduates like Melody and her grandmother, Pat Ormond, in the UTC class of 2020,” said Steven, UTC Chancellor. “Together, they personify the determination, commitment and love for lifelong learning we encourage in every UTC graduate.”
Pat hopes that she can be an example to other non-traditional college students who want to get their degrees. “Learning never stops,” Pat said. “That’s something that my father taught me when I was young. No matter what you do, learning never stops.” Pat isn’t planning to stop anytime soon. She’s already working on another degree-a bachelor’s degree in history.
Meanwhile, her granddaughter, who is hunting jobs, is interested in getting a master’s degree in clinical psychology so she can become a lawyer. But she says she’s in no rush. Her nanna has taught her that she has plenty of time.
4. Why was Melody’s graduation ceremony so special
A. Because her grandmother graduated alongside her. B. Because her grandmother was 75 years old.
C Because it looked quite different from others. D. Because she celebrated it with all her classmates.
5 What can we know about Pat’s family
A. They are anxious to be celebrities. B. They prefer attending non-traditional colleges.
C. They never stop creating opportunities. D. They support and encourage each other.
6. What does the underlined word “personify” in Paragraph 4 mean
A. Repeat. B. Represent. C. Identify. D. Follow.
7. Which of the following can best describe Pat Ormond’s story

C A good beginning is half done. D. It’s never too late to learn.

Peanuts are among the most popular snack foods in the United States, but about 2 percent of U.S. schoolchildren have an allergic (过敏的) reaction to them. A British study might bring hope to the American parents who are concerned about their kid’s allergy to peanuts.
People allergic to peanuts can develop skin conditions or watery eyes. Children with a peanut allergy can develop a skin condition called eczema. Some reactions are so serious that they can result in death. So far, doctors have advised parents not to serve peanut-containing foods to children under the age of 3. But a study published in Britain found that feeding children peanuts earlier might help to solve the problem.
Anthony Fauci, head of America`s National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, notes that in Israel, people have a tradition of feeding peanuts to babies and says the percentage of Israeli children with a peanut allergy is much lower than the rate among Jewish children living in England. “In Israel, there is a custom of feeding peanut-based foods to babies within the first few months of life, and the rate of peanut allergy dropped by over 80% among the Israeli kids compared to those Jewish children living in England.”
Dr. Fauci says this finding is very important. It means that babies have a natural mechanism (机制) that can be trained to react positively to peanuts, which may turn off as the baby reaches the age of 1. He says a team of experts have agreed on new guidelines for U. S. doctors who deal with children’s allergies.
Fauci calls giving children peanuts a way of “challenging” their bodies. “If the child has a history of serious eczema, you should bring the child to do a skin test or a blood test to determine if the child has an allergy to peanuts. If they do, you should refrain from challenging that child. If they don’t, it would be safe to feed them peanuts when they are babies at 4 to 6 months old.”
8. What might be the worst result of allergic reaction to peanuts
A. Watery eyes. B. Serious eczema.
C. Death. D. Skin cancer.
9. What does Anthony Fauci say about peanut allergy
A. Babies’ mechanism can be trained to react actively to peanuts.
B. Feeding babies peanuts earlier might increase the rate of allergy.
C. Jewish children in England are less likely to be allergic to peanuts.
D. A skin test is not necessary for a child with a history of serious eczema.
10. What would be the best title for this passage
A. Say NO to Products Containing Peanuts
B. Feeding Peanuts to Children Early Helps
C. Peanut Allergy Threatens Children’s Health
D. Guidance on Dealing with Children’s Allergies

Aram and Rossi’s Bakery
Walking along the narrow brick sidewalk, Aram took a deep breath. The air smelled of lemons and baked bread and coffee, coming from Rossi’s Italian Bakery. He was almost there.
Aram still couldn’t believe his luck. All his friends were working boring summer jobs—waiting tables and babysitting. And here he was, about to start as an actual baker’s assistant, doing what he loved. It was all thanks to his Aunt Rita. She knew Mrs Rossi and had arranged everything. It was the perfect experience for his future career. Rossi’s Bakery, he was sure, would one day be known as the place where he got his start.
Ah, here he was—the bakery. A faded wooden sign over the door read “Rossi’s Bakery.” Aram straightened his shoulders and entered. Mrs Rossi was sitting at the counter, looking old and wise. Aram greeted her and stuck out his hand. Mrs Rossi looked at it for a second before turning around and waving him inside. “I’m ready to learn everything,” Aram said.
“Great. Let’s start with the cash register,” Mrs Rossi said, “because that’s what you’ll be doing.” She showed him how to use the cash register. It wasn’t hard. The pastry trays were all marked by price, and there weren’t that many choices anyway. “That’s it ” Aram said, his heart sinking. “But when do we bake ”
“Bake I order wholesale now. No more baking. I’m too old.” Then Mrs Rossi silently held up her hands. Aram took in her knotted, swollen fingers, and he understood. A wave of disappointment struck him. Sadness overwhelmed him so suddenly that he couldn’t think of a word to say.
He sighed, and Mrs Rossi sighed, too. “I used to bake it all. Bread and cakes. And no one did it better than me. But that was when these things worked,” said Mrs Rossi holding up her hands once more and glancing across the shelves filled with empty bottles labelled with names of the various ingredients (配料) she once used. Suddenly she came alive, waving her arthritic (关节炎的) hands. “People used to line up around the corner. Everyone wanted my baked bread.”
注意:
1. 续写词数应为150左右;
2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。

【答案】Then a thought occurred to Aram that he could ask Mrs Rossi to teach him. But he was not sure whether Mrs Rossi liked the idea or not. Thinking that if he didn't put it forward, he would be dealing with the boring cash register for the whole summer, Aram hesitated no more. “Mrs Rossi, I'm wondering if I could have the privilege to be your apprentice.” Mrs Rossi looked at him and then his hands. Aram continued. “I was fascinated by the pure magic with which you mixed those ingredients and turned them into pieces of art. Would you teach me to be your magical hands ” Aram’s eyes glittered with passion.
Mrs Rossi finally said, “Let’s buy the ingredients first.” On hearing this, Aram felt over the moon. Delightedly, they shut the door and headed for the supermarket. Two hours later those empty bottles were full again. With the long options ingredients inside, Mrs Rossi seemed as overjoyed and hopeful as Aram. At the end of the summer, neighbors were seen lining up round the corner outside the Rossi’s. Two years later, a new wooden sign was hung over the door, reading “Aram and Rossi’s Bakery”.
