教材分析 The title of this unit is“Working the Land”.The theme of this unit is agriculture and farming.The unit discusses a range of hot issues related to the agriculture.The unit also introduces the agriculture scientist Yuan Longping, the problem of world hunger,the differences between organic farming and chemical farming,the development of the ecological agriculture and so on. Students then learn where their food comes from and how it is processed from farm to plate.Finally,they can watch a video that introduces an agricultural university that teaches sustainable farming.The unit also tries to develop the students correct values.After learning the story of the Yuan Longping,the problem of global hunger,and the development of agriculture,the unit tries to guide the students to cherish their lives,establish their dreams and know how to prepare for their dreams which are the thematic meaning of this unit.
学情分析 The students are from senior 2 of senior high school.The class has 45 students. They have the learned the basic sentence structures and the subjects of sentences in senior one.By the learning of the grammar items last year,the students have certain knowledge of the grammar.As to the topic of this unit“ Working in the Land”and Yuan Longping,most of the students have some basic knowledge about them.The students in the class are active and do well in group discussion.But the self-directed inquiry learning skills need to be improved further.Students are in the key stage of forming their outlook on life and values.Learning about Yuan Longping'qualities and dreams allows students to experience the power of dreams and learn how to achieve dreams, which in turn contributes to students'development.
教学目标 After the class,the students can: 1,Learn to identify and summarize the use of the noun clauses as subjects; 2.Induce the forms and meaning of subject clauses by cooperating with others; 3.Use the subject clauses to talk about what qualities make a person successful and the issues of the agriculture; 4.Establish the life goals and dream which combines the needs of social development with their interests.
教学重难点 Use the subject clauses to understand and express ideas on the agriculture and farming; Choose the correct conjunctives in the context.

leading: grammar leading Activity1:The students listen to the song“stronger”and the teacher try to sing with the students together.The teachers then guide the students to attempt to analyze the sentence structure:“What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.” Such as:Which part is the subject of the sentence;how about the predicate and so on.And then let the students to try to translate the sentence.
Justification: The purpose of activity 1 is to activate the students interest and create relaxing atmosphere;After the students admiring the song,the teachers ask the students to analyze and translate the sentence which can activate students’previous knowledge about the sentence structure and introduce the grammar item,the subject clause,of the lesson.
presenting: presenting the grammar in context Activity2:Let the students read a passage about Grandma's complaints and her plan after retirement on page 53 of textbook and pay attention to bold part. Then ask some questions.
Grandma has been complaining about the vegetable sold in the supermarket, which have been grown using chemical fertilizers.To her,that they look beautiful on the outside is obvious.However,What she is unhappy about is the lower nutritional... Questionl:Why did grandma complain the vegetable in the supermarket Question2:What is the important decision for them Question3:What is the first thing they are thinking about When check the answers,the teachers write the complex sentences that contain the subject sentences in the blackboard and underline the subjects.Then let the students to observe and analyze the above bold sentences to understand the structures and meanings of the sentences.And the use of the“that,what,how,whether”is discussed in the groups. Activity3:The students read the text“A Pioneer for All People”again and find out the complex sentences that contains the subjects clauses from the text: ...what concerned him most was that farmers often had poor harvests and sometimes even had a serious shortage of food to eat. How this could be done was a challenging question at the time. Activity5:finish the exercise3 in Workbook:circle and correct the mistakes in each sentence. Activity6:The students watch a video to introduce the Li Baoguo and fill some blanks according to the content of the video Justification By activity 4 and 5,the students internalized the rules of the subject clauses in the level of sentences.Then the students practice the subject clauses in the discourse level.The exercises vary from sentence level to discourse level,from easy activities to difficult activities.And let the students use the subject clauses in listening,viewing activities.During using subject clauses,the students can deeply understand how the great person devotes his life to the agriculture. These activities can prepare for the using of subject clauses in the authentic situations.

)Activity7:The teachers show a video about Yuan Longping'contributions to the problem of world hunger and let the students discuss in groups on how to deal with the problem of world hunger,then the students write articles about solutions to the world hunger.In their articles,they need to use three to five
explore the theme value subject clauses.At last the students do the self-evaluation and peer evaluation for their writing draft.
Justification: It is the final goal of the lesson that the students use the subject sentences to do things.In the activity,the student use the subject clauses to express their opinions and exchange ideas with others.It is a way to improve the students language ability.By the video,the students have deep impressions on the hunger problem and aware that everyone need to think and take actions to deal with the the problems of the whole human beings.
Summary The students have a summary about what they have learned today.
Justification: The step can cultivate students'ability of autonomous learning.
Homework Polish their articles according the assessments they get.Then the students can choose one of the following tasks: Task1:Surf the Internet and learn more about problems of agriculture and farming in the world,and make a post about the problems; Task2:Make a video to record the dreams of their classmates and what they have done for their dreams; Task3:Introduce the story of Yuan Longping to their parents by using subjects clauses.
Justification: By various kinds and different levels of homework,the different interests and strengths of different students are hope to be satisfied.Meanwhile,by the homework,the students can consolidate the grammar points learned today and be encouraged to apply the grammar points to their lives.
