Stepl:Lead-in Show a picture of a kind of drink,which is marked “your energy is beyond your imagination.”and ask a question “What is your potential ”and ""Have you ever realized it ” Play the video talking about how to realize your potential,summarize it after watching. Draw students’interest in today's class Applying students’ listening and speaking skills
Step2: Pre-reading Ask 2 questions: 1.How do you think senior high school will be different from junior high school 2.What do you think the principal will talk about in his speech (read the title and look at the pictures) Cultivate student's ability of generalization and prediction
Step3: while reading 1.T asks Ss to underline the topic sentence for each paragraph. (skimming the passage and focusing the first sentence in each paragraph) 2.T asks Ss to use key words to summarize the meaning of each plete the outline of the speech. (tip) 3.Understanding details (1)T asks Ss to focus on paragraph 2 and answer the Developing students’ acquiring and combing ability

Step4: Understanding the language style of the speech T asks Ss to find out one favorite sentence and read it out loudly. Guide students to appreciate the beauty of stylistic features and figure out the means and characteristics of expressing the language.
Step 5:In-depth analysis of the speech T asks Ss to explore the reason why the principal chooses this topic and the reason why senior high students should realize their potential. Inspire students to think why the principal chooses this topic.Dig out the significance of potential
on school and society. Rewriting the paragraph is conducive to students’ critical thinking ability.
Homework Based on Para.4-5 to write a suggestive letter, providing constructive advice to freshmen who are confused about their coming senior high life.
