Module 3 Sports
Unit 2 This year we are training more carefully.

根据句意用括号内所给单词的适当形式填空。

against prep. 反对，与……对抗, 常用于play, fight等动词后。
e.g. We will play against Class Two this Friday.

【辨析】arrive, reach, get
arrive 不及物动词 接at用于较小的地点名词前，如村庄、家、学校车场； 接in用于较大的地点名词前，如国家、城市等。
reach 及物动词 后接地点名词，正式用语
get 不及物动词 接to后再接地点名词，非正式用语。
当get, arrive后面接here, there, home等表示地点的副词时，不加介词。
【语境应用】根据句意选用reach, get或 arrive填空，每空一词，有的需要变换形式。

2) “因此；结果”，引导结果状语从句，从句前可用逗号于主句分开。
e.g. It rained heavily, so that we had to stay at home.

beat v. 打败；战胜，用作及物动词，宾语常常是比赛或竞争的对手，即人或参赛队
e.g. They beat Xinhua Team in the baseball match.
Peter played the violin very well and he beat Tony.
拓展：win意为“赢；获胜”时，既可用作不及物动词，也可用作及物动词。用作及物动词时，宾语常常是比赛、比赛的名次或奖品等。

真遗憾！常用于交际用语中，对未做成某事表示惋惜。

2. Learning to learn
You can use at that time / yesterday/ last week / last month/ last year … to talk what people did in the past; and use now / today / this week / this month / this year … to talk about what they do now when you make a comparison.

Sample
It is Saturday morning and the school basketball team is training hard. The practice starts at 9 o’clock but they arrived early to warm up. It’s quite cold but they don’t care. Last year the team lost all their matches because they didn’t train hard and they were sometimes careless when they passed the ball. This year they are playing well and practising carefully. The coach is pleased with them because they are training hard and that means they now have a better chance of winning.
