教学目标 1、能运用略读的阅读策略，初步了解主阅读篇章故事的内容。 2、能通过深入阅读，进一步理解故事内容，能够分析故事的起因、经过、结果。 3、能够掌握通过语言、神态、动作等细节描写了解人物的性格特征。
教学内容分析 What: 这是一阅读课，主阅读篇章讲述了一个临时从观众席中被替换上场的普通女孩在一档电视智力竞赛节目中获得大奖的故事。引导学生通过任务的语言、动作和神态描写，体会人物的心理变化，了解任务的性格特征。 How:首先Warming up, play a game和观看前置作业来热身，既让学生了解拍摄节目的过程，又为下文做铺垫。然后利用Pre-reading让学生简单了解故事的基本信息。While-reading通过略读，让学生了解故事的要素和主要情节。又通过分段细读，让学生进一步理解故事内容。Post-reading中，要求学生小组讨论完成Retelling, 再用Discuss的三个开放性题目，留给学生讨论主要角色的性格特点升华主语篇的主题。 Why:通过阅读篇章，理解故事内容，了解人物的性格特征，点出这节课的育人目标。
教学重难点 1、教学重点：通过深入阅读，进一步理解故事内容。 2、教学难点：能通过语言、神态、动作等细节描写了解人物的性格特征。
教学策略 主动阅读探究，善于了解人物的性格特征。 小组合作学习、展示。

Step 1 Warming up and pre-reading Play a game: I show, you guess. Watch the video of the story. 创设单元主题相关的活动，促进师生之间的互动和激发学生对相关话题的兴趣。
Step2 While-reading Skimming Skim the story and complete the diagram. Skim again and match the main ideas of the plots. 1. 培养学生的阅读能力。 2. 通过使用略读策略，了解故事的内容，故事的情节。
2. Scanning Read line 1 to line 12 of the story and choose the correct answers. Q1: Who is Angela Q2: What happened before the talent show Read line 13 to line 24 of the story and finish the table. Q:How did people deal with the unexpected problem Read line 25 to line 51 of the story and answer the questions below. Q1:How did Angela do during the quiz Q2:How did Denise feel 25 minutes later Q3:What was the prize 通过细读文章，更深入了解故事的内容， 将故事分三部分进行细读,布置层层递进的任务，巩固对主阅读篇章的情节发展和主要人物性格特征的理解。
Step 3 Post-reading Discuss and finish the Retelling. Discuss the following questions in groups. Q1:What do you think of Angela Why Q2: What is the difference in character between Angela and Denise Q3: What can you learn from the story 拓展学生的思维，进一步巩固本课的学习内容。培养学生自主学习、合作探究意识和能力。
Step 4 Summary Words & Phrases: contestant, relaxed, beat, single, victory, pass out, ahead of, keep still. The elements of the story: Where: at the studio Who: Angela and Denise What: beginning: watch, pass out. middle: relaxed, ahead of ending: lucky winner 了解学生对本节课内容的掌握情况。
Step 5 Homework 预习课本 P71-73 大本 P82-83, 默写P51-52 晚读: 读U5, 听写单词 巩固本课所学，查漏补缺。 预习新课。
