Most of the studentsin the first year of senior high school have clear learning goals and show stronger confidence in English learning.When facing diiculties they can take the initiative to ask teachers and clasmates for help.Most students in this level are cooperative learners,whie a few of them are individual learners.They have known some information about some endangered animals and wildlif protection,which makes it easier for them to understand the text However,they lack the ability to find out the structure and summarize the main idea by using mind maps.
Analysis of teaching material
The theme of this section is "Describe a place with distinctive cultural identiy".This section continues to focus on Chinese culture by introducing Chinatown The theme map of this unit presents a typical scene of Chinatown in San Francisco,and the Reading and Thinking section also mentions Chinatown,laying the foundation for this setion.The purpose of introducing Chinatown is mainly to reflect the relationship between Chinese culture and American multiculturalism It is an important component of American multiculturalism.Chinatown is also a spiritual home for overseas Chinese and an important window for spreading
Chinese culture.Foreigners can experience Chinese culture up close in Chinatown.
