Activity 4: Discussion
Does the author sound positive or negative about the future home
The author seems to be positive about the future home. In the title, the author uses the word “sweet” to describe the future home. And in the article, the author highlights many different features of the future home, which are all positive. Besides, the author uses a lot of vivid details to describe future homes and express his emotion. And in the last paragraph, the author says “Like them or loathe them, such homes of the future are on their way.” I think the author is ready for changes and look forward to future life.
1
makes his point easier to read and understand. Besides, the author uses the second-person “you” to put the readers at the centre. And it feels like a one-on-one conversation between the author and the reader. Some contractions are used and a lot of short questions are asked to involve the readers and make the readers think. So the passage is written in an informal tone, or a conversational tone.
