教学过程
Pre-listening: Guide students to play a guessing game to arouse students’ interest and lead in the new topic. Guide students to describe the pictures about Halloween and inform students of some background information about Halloween. Encourage students to talk about what Halloween is about based on the words and pictures related to Halloween in 1a. Set the scene and guide students to help our classmate Bill know more about Halloween. While-listening: Listen to the conversation in 1b and find out what things Jane introduces about Halloween. Develop students’ listening strategies by guiding them to pay attention to the question words and write down the key words quickly. Then check the answers.Listen and answer the questions in 1b and guide students to focus on key information and write down the key words quickly. Guide students to focus on the activities people have on Halloween and then listen for the specific information about them. Before listening, guide students to guess what kind of words are missing so that students’ predicting ability can be trained. Check the answers and guide students to think: Why do people dress up as ghosts or black cats What tricks will children play if they don’t get any treats Guide students to think about the Halloween activities that interest them most. Post-listening: Pair work: guide students to discuss what they have learned with a partner and then report what the partner has learned. Group work: Set the scene and tell students that the exchange student Jane will study in our school as an exchange student. Guide students to invite her to prepare the party for the Mid-autumn festival. Then guide students to make a conversation with group members and introduce the Mid-autumn festival to Jane. Then ask students why people from different countries have different festivals and guide them to respect different cultures and try to spread our traditional Chinese culture. Guide students to make a summary about what they have learned during this class. Assign the homework.
