Watch a news and say what happened--a storm 2. Predict: What ’s a storm like What may a storm bring to people Step 2. Learning and understanding activities: 1. Read and divide the text into three parts: before the storm, during the storm and after the storm, then get the order of the text---time order. 2. Read and find out the main idea of this text: Where, When, Who, What. 3. Read and get the detailed information ( weather, people’s activities and feelings) of the storm in different time with the help of a story mountain model. Step 3: Applying and practicing 1. Retell the story with the mind map (the story mountain model). 2. Imagine that students were in that storm. They make an interview to talk about the storm (of the weather, activities and feelings). The interview must try to meet the requirements of the evaluation table. Step 4. Transferring and creating 1. Discuss about some questions in 3C and students think about how to deal with different disasters. (1) Why did storms bring families and neighbors closer together (2) What other things can bring people closer together (3) How can we deal with disasters (before, during and after) 2. Students Choose a disaster that They were most afraid of, discuss about what they can do before, during and after it in a group to protect themselves. Take notes to help them to report.
